The fight for control of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau may have significant effects on the bureau's mass acquisition of private financial records, according to privacy advocates.
The CFPB pools vast quantities of data for research purposes, including millions of people’s credit card records, which it says are anonymized, commercially available and tracked to help consumers, not to spy on them.
Critics doubt the adequacy of safeguards, however, and liken the credit data-collection to the National Security Agency’s monitoring of internet and phone records under laws that allow tracking of spies and terrorists.

"We're here from the government, and were here to help." - I don't believe you.
"The data is all anonymized." - I don't believe you.
"The data is commercially available" - So you've been selling my private information, without my permission...
"Tracked to help consumers" - I have yet to receive any of this so-called "help". When and where did this assistance come to me?
The CFPB took billions form banks for "social justice transgressions" like "not enough loans to under qualified minorities"... and nobody knows where that money went. (Well, we ALL know, it just isn't publicly acknowledge yet.)
The Elizabeth Warren CFPB is a massive scandal, and needs immediate attention by numerous entities.
I'd like to see President Trump tweet out a request: Please have the CFPB show one example where they actually protected a consumer.....
