Matt Lauer allegedly sexually assaulted a female NBC staffer during the Rio Olympics, sources told Page Six.
The staffer, who has not been named and wishes to remain anonymous, complained to NBC bosses yesterday, prompting NBC News bosses to move fast and fire him.
A source told Page Six, “An NBC staffer come forward with a claim that Matt sexually assaulted her at the Olympics.
There have been rumors about Matt having affairs with subordinates at NBC for years, but those were believed to be consensual. This incident in Rio was not.”
Another source tells us that the decision to fire Lauer was made late last night by NBC News chairman Andy Lack.
Lauer’s firing comes amid rumors that numerous news outlets were working on stories about the Today anchor alleged sexual misconduct.

The most bizarre aspect is that this is what NBC worried most about: getting scooped. Especially if their nemesis Fox News reported - accurately - the story.
It's an odd standard of proof or action as well. Is publicity alone - even negative publicity - a reason to sack their highly paid ratings bell cow? Is a late-shift review of a single complaint the proper venue and process? Does NBC have an employee handbook that applies to everyone? If so, isn't there a prescribed process for dealing with such complaints that would almost certainly take a number of days at least?
Mind you, I'm not defending Lauer or NBC but even when they do the right thing they do it in an incorrect way ie arbitrarily, based on emotion and one's man decision.
One can't help but suspect that many of their news decisions and opinions are also the product of whim.

While I have no love at all for Matt Lauer, we do have this little thing called due process...there is absolutely no proof the allegations are true...just that they have been lodged. I guess that is all thats required.
This is just not right. No matter who it happens to.
The cynic in me says men are being systematicly pushed from their jobs to make way for women...and what a handy too to use: have you stopped abusing women?

Unless of course, the only research needed was to look into the file of “Stuff everybody knew about but nobody was doing anything about it.” Based on the Cokie Roberts comments about John Conyers, there might be a HUGE file waiting for public notice. That could explain why these things seem to be resolved so quickly.
Lack is just boss of the News division, nowhere near the top of Comcast.
I suspect they’ve known of his predatory behavior for years, but with other media investigating—NY Slimes—they decided to get in front of it. I don’t think they would fire him over one allegation unless they were confident it was true.
Again, that’s supposition on my part.
And yet there is no march in the streets to protest all the Dems’ boob grabbing and more nor the news personalities’ own sexually toxic work environments.

Close, bur the objective is to keep Trump’s women issues perculating through 2018 snd 2020, if necessary. If ‘18 elections bring dems to power (including rinos), they can impeach trump on any contrived charge cooked up er, discovered, by Mueller, FBI, CIA. They need enough public opionion to stay negative on trump when the rat/rino senate votes for conviction, presided over by chief justice Roberts, who they have blackmailed. Oh yeah, must prevent the Wall, Obamacare termination, tax cuts, and foreign policy wins long enough so they’ll never happen after president Pence or unnamed rat sworn in. Total essence of the swamp today.
In the midst of all these outings and accusations, does anyone find it odd that there has not been one same sex allegation?
NBC should fir the SNL writers and staff for being offensive to people who tune in to laugh.
They say they learned of it on Monday did a serious investigation and fired him on Tuesday.
Must’ve been some damning evidence.
And while they denied hearing of any such allegations in th past, they seem quite open to believing that this was not a one time infraction.
