I thought there was a work requirement in order to get food stamps.

what a load of shite. If they cannot afford food then they should to to c state school, community college etc.
Maybe they should be protesting the schools who pay their professors outrageous amounts of money, or demand that the school only has classroom, and not the likes of beautiful pools etc
Raman noodles, boxed macaroni and cheese, hot dogs...
College students have been living on things like this for decades.
state school
I recall this being an issue when I was a student back in the early 1990s. A good deal of the problem was due to students not saving up enough money (maybe should have taken a year off for work to build up their finances more).
Now, wheres that teeny tiny violin of mine?
The Starving College Student meme is not new. The ability to persevere through adversity in pursuit of the goal is one reason why employers used to seek out college grads for management positions.
They still seek them out, but just because of the in the box thinking of HR departments.
Buncha p*ssies. Even when I was on the varsity team, I still didnt have a full scholarship so I worked part time jobs—yes, ever hear of part=time jobs you lazy snowflakes.
My jobs during college were: driver for an escort service, dj for a strip club, bouncer for a strip club, waiter, bartender etc.
What ever happened to Work Study programs?
They could skip college and enter the work force full time. If they start on the bottom of a company with upward tracks, they could train OTJ and go to college a few hrs at a time.
Have they ever thought of getting a part-time job, especially in food service?
This “problem” is waaaaay down on my list of problems———and I have three grandkids away at college.
If you can’t afford food quit school and get a job.
Easy !!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
Colleges overcharge, they are a ripoff.
The limited supply of college education requires economic friction to prevent an excessive demand. Since government is he11-bent on making it cheap unto free, something else must push back - hence the price of sustenance in the semi-controlled greater campus region will rise until students literally can’t survive without greater income. To wit: if students can’t be kept out per qualifications, and students can’t be kept out per cost of tuition, then students will be kept out per cost of incidentals.
Absolutely no one makes you idiots go hungry!
Never failed to budget for food again after that year. Learning experience.
While in college I myself once lost my opener behind a stack of books...and was forced to live on food and water for days.
I hear you.
My oldest is in the Marine reserves, goes to work full 35 hours a week, and goes to school full time.
Bunch of little, snotty piss ants who think they are owed something because they were born.
Don’t spend all your money on beer and video games.
