Wow,thanks for the gold medal.
.
Howdy, radu! Hope you had a splendid day today and that the coke roast turned out as good as it sounded! Hope your weather was moderate and no rain on a day like today. Ours was lovely and in the 60s.
We got a gift of some food from friends...baked chicken, dressing, gravy, potato salad and 2 pies to go along with the ham, asparagus and baked sweet taters that we already had. Good thing, too. We found out almost too late that Dulcie doesn’t like ham. EEK!
Lots of good ones tonight! :)

LOL! Whod’a thunk it!
I remember celebrating Thanksgiving during basic training (Vietnam era) and the spread they served was a real Southern feast, complete with seafood, shrimp, crab cakes along with the traditional turkey. They did a great job and I remember and appreciate it years later. As for my favorite food song, the only one I can remember is Candy Girl from the Four Seasons.
Howdy, LUV!
Whew! Sounds like your friends saved the day with the baked chicken. And it also sounds like y’all don’t have to worry about going out to eat for a few days. LOL!
I reckon the cola roast was another hit. It was a 2 lb. roast and I put half away after supper. Hubby ate the other half! I has veggie “steak”. I wrapped some cut up potatoes with butter and seasonings in aluminum foil and slid them in next to the roast to cook while I dealt with the cat feeding. There was also the broccoli casserole I baked last night. Not a huge meal but it was plenty for just the two of us. The woman who comes by every year to gather pecans from our trees brought a pecan pie this morning.
Our temps weren’t quite as warm as yours but the mid 50s felt nice enough. Nary a cloud in the sky either. To be honest, we wish it would rain SOON because this has been a VERY dry month. Leaves on the ground and everything so dry has people worried about wildfires springing up. It was a year ago that Gatlinburg was almost destroyed.
No rain in the forecast until late next week and that is a small chance. But the temps will be nice - - 50s and 60s. No complaints here!
mmmm...homemade pecan pie! We had storebought but it was pretty good!
Lordy, I hope y’all get some rain. You don’t need any more destruction like that was! How are the restorations coming along there?

The mountains have gotten more rain than our area so maybe they’ll be ok. It seems like ALL of TN has gotten more rain than we have. Just can’t seem to get it in this one part of the state for some reason. It’s been frustrating.
The Nashville news station we watch did an update on Gatlinburg yesterday. Some people who lost their homes have moved away rather than rebuild. Others are rebuilding. The town itself didn’t get damaged nearly as badly as the surrounding area and has been doing well all this time. The people rallied quite well.
I was surprised at how many trees survived and are putting out glorious color. They had their helicopter flying around to show the area and though scars show, it looks pretty good overall. Mother Nature has been hard at work trying to put the area back together.

Gatlinburg is such a beautiful place and I’m glad that it’s coming back together. Hope you get rain in your area before long. We’re sort of in the same situation.
We had a sprinkle a week ago, but it wasn’t enough to do much good. I really hate to start watering this late in the year, but the St. Augustine grass we have needs it year round.
