When the thing your company is named for is no longer selling all that well, that's a big problem. Just ask Campbell Soup, which reported lousy earnings Tuesday because of weak soup sales. Shares of Campbell Soup (CPB) plunged more than 7% after the food giant said that soup sales in the U.S. fell 9% from a year ago. The company also lowered its earnings outlook for fiscal 2018.

Are they still doing gay commercials?
I eat Amy’s organic soups and chilis. They’re vegetarian, but at least they’re cleaner than Campbell’s and Progresso.
Don’t know. Haven’t seen any of their commercials recently.
Whoa - add that to my list of 'do NOT buy' items...
Mmmmmmm mmmmm mmmmm. Now I’m hungry.
And thanks for the link.
I had some excellent home made potato soup last week.
“Campbells tried to appropriate our cultural heritage for their queer agenda. They killed their appeal in about 5 seconds, and now theyre dead to me”.
Exactly!
There are numerous examples and the NFL is one.
They’re doing all they can to wipe out America culture and heritage and we’re seeing push back.
I use the low salt varieties but frankly I stopped eating their soup because every joint in my body hurts after I do. Seriously.
I make my own soup. It’s easy and way better.
Progresso has been very aggressive on pricing lately.
but I'm moving away from most canned foods anyway, especially the vegetables, and I won't buy soup anymore....I'm working thru my survivalist pantry one can at a time...
Try to make my own soup. But, if I have to use canned, Progresso’s low sodium soups work for me.
Now that it’s soup season, I need to start doing that.
I’ve noticed that. Good for them....smart marketing.
Even at the food pantry, people prefer “Trader Joe’s” or “Progresso” to Campbell’s. LOL! :-)
It's what holds my tuna and noodle cassarole together. Yum, yum!
I am obliging them.
I told him that I was a customer for close to 70 years and their soup was inedible. I went for Progresso he lost a lot of customers. He told me that I should add more salt.
Campbells rep was not wrong. The reason the soup was bad was Obama had forced them to take the salt out. Replacing it was the right fix.
It’s really very easy. They pretty much cook on their own too after a certain point. I have several “go to” recipes that I enjoy - in addition to the annual Turkey and Ham/Bean varieties.
Basically that’s the reality.. with the chicken noodle anyway, they decided to market “low sodium” so it basically as ZERO flavor, if you add salt to it tastes like what you remember....
So they know what the problem is, and they refuse to fix it..
The other thing is the cost.. I’m sorry, but cambells is to canned soup what banquet/michelinas are to frozen dinners low end cheap... but their product has shrunk and their prices are outrageous... $1.50 on sale for a can of condensed soup is beyond insane.... Anymore its retailing closer to $2 or more a can, which makes no sense... I can go get a mid range frozen dinner for $2.50 or less, and can get a low end frozen dinner around $1-$1.50... I am not going to pay that much for basic low end soup.
Even when I use it as an ingredient like creme of mushroom... I’m not paying $1.50 or $2 a can for cream of mushroom, I can get the store brand for under a buck and it works just as well in the casserole etc.
I wish retailers would tell WAL MART to stuff it and go back to 1lb cans of things.... And just not sell to walmart.
