Ya, its great to eliminate deductions without implementing a flat tax. Its just wonderful that the feds get to steal even more of my money to fill their 1.1 trillion dollar budget.
Grand, aint it?
Wow!! So in your world the feds have the power and should dictate to the states how taxes should be laid out? The states have their tax policy that is closest to the voter yet more in this thread would have the feds further dictate a theft of my money by punishing states through the elimination of state deductions.
Wow
No, it makes absolutely no sense at all. It is YOU, that believes in Socialism, by asking people in other states to pay a bigger share to you.
If I were like you, I could just as easily ask: 1)Why should people with huge families get a deduction 2) Why should people who take out a mortgage get a deduction 3) Why should those who are very ill, get to deduct their medical costs 4) Why should people who were stupid enough to take out huge student loans get to deduct the interest 5) Why should people who adopt get a deduction 6) Why should anyone paying alimony get to deduct it 7) and on and and on and on?
The SALT deductions are over 100 years old and are still worth keeping intacted!
Yes, I chose to live here and when we moved here, there was NO state income tax! So I didn't have that deduction then; now I do.
Again with the "move" crap?
Okay...why should I move to some nasty hellhole, where I don't know anyone nor have any family?
Why should ANYONE "have to move" because the Congress has decided to pull a huge tax INCREASE ?
And just because one lives in a "conservative state" doesn't preclude them having to pay large property taxes...which are now either capped or disallowed, depending on if you look at the Senate of House Bills!
Deductions for SALT isn't "harming" you nor anyone else!
You must also yearn to "soak the rich"; you little COMMIE, you!
This topic has smoked out FR's MARXISTS and STUPID; sort of the same thing.
Alimony is theft and should be banned.
How much is it?
If you lost SALT and got a $24,000 standard deduction, how would the math work out for you?
If you’re paying high state taxes your beef is with your state legislature. The fed government doesn’t owe you a deduction for it.
Don't believe me; no skin off my nose. LOL
But your posts to me, just make you look very foolish and are giving me lots to derisively laugh at!
Lovely picture of you and the rest of the MARXIST MORONS here.
You are soooooooooo immature! LOL
Me too. We shouldn’t be paying California’s taxes. The free ride is over.
No, the states in which people reside should dictate what race me are paid FIRST and then the feds adjust deductions based on the needs of the individuals within the state. The feds should be FLAT, period, point blank, end of discussion. It is ONLY because of present tax policy at the fed level and this so called tax bill that drives socialism.
The feds should NOT require an immediate confiscation of my salary @ 35% before the state even touches it. Returning MY MONEY back to me through deductions isnt socialism thats called grabbing the money stolen that I earned back to my pockets. Sorry Charlie but getting some of my money back is the direct opposite of socialism. Being in the top 5% is a penalty because success is punished.
Huh.
His boss is also on Wife Number Three.
Funny how it works out that way ...
Bingo!
You, for once moment, believe that people, in high state tax states, can fight that?
BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
“That’s a good idea. So let’s demand that while stopping the diversions of revenues to the worst of commie states is great for the tax reform bill, we also need a bill to cut spending for pork to those same states!”
Win win !
Another reason I’m moving to Indiana from Maryland— the state & local tax rates:
1) Average dollar amount of state and local tax deductions claimed on federal individual income tax returns for 2015
7. Maryland: $12,931
34. Indiana: $8,756
2) The percentage of federal individual income tax filers claiming a deduction for state and local taxes paid in 2015, ranked by state:
1. Maryland: 45.7 percent
41. Indiana: 22.8 percent
And that is why I want the tax reform rates even lower, so we can get rid of individual and corporate SALT and stop subsidizing oppressive, large state and local governments.
The only thing comforting about my subsidizing the yuge, debt-riddled, whacko-loony government of Kookiefornia is that I can write off my state and local taxes.
I will gladly give up state and local write-offs for much lower rates so that less of my money will be going to subsidize Kookiefornia.
The hell the feds dont owe me a deduction! They steal my money every 2 weeks! The state in which I live should always get more and have first cut but because we still have folks that firmly believe power should reside at the fed level and less with the states, well we are left with the John Adams ilk vs. Jefferson.
Why should the states which should have the power of taxation have to lower their taxes because an out of control federal government cant control their spending?
