Sen. Dianne Feinstein has re-introduced a bill to ban the sale of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.
Feinstein was joined by 22 other Democratic Senators in the wake of recent mass shootings in Texas and Nevada. The bill was introduced just days before the most recent mass shooting, which occurred Tuesday in Northern California.
Were introducing an updated assault weapons ban for one reason: so that after every mass shooting with a military-style assault weapon, the American people will know that a tool to reduce these massacres is sitting in the Senate, ready for debate and a vote, Feinstein said in an update to constituents on Friday.
This bill wont stop every mass shooting, but it will begin removing these weapons of war from our streets, she added.
Congress instituted a ban on assault weapons in 1994, but re-authorization failed in 2004 under pressure from the National Rifle Association.
The NRAs lobbying arm quickly criticized Feinsteins latest bill, saying the 125-page firearm prohibition fever dream is perhaps the most far-reaching gun ban ever introduced in Congress and urging gun supporters to contact their representatives.
"So sorry about your husband's death. Now please hand over his $25,000 collection of guns. No, you won't receive any compensation."
NY banned ‘assault weapons’ and ‘military style addons’- did it in the dead of the night- citing ‘imminent need’ (in the wake of sandy hook shooting) as their excuse for violating the second amendment
No. Your move.
They claimed that any rifle that is black is an assault rifle, that’s jus rashist! WHEN WHINESTIEN DROPS HER ARMED BODY GUARDS THEN WE CAN TALK
NY and CT both passed laws that they do not enforce because there has been little compliance.
actually NY did enforce it recently- man’s ‘military style gun’ was confiscated not too long ago- about a month ago i beleive
Sge has a lot of nerve using the Texas shooting as an excuse. The killer was stopped by a former NRA rifle instructor with a similar gun!
typo Sge =She
“WHEN WHINESTIEN DROPS HER ARMED BODY GUARDS THEN WE CAN TALK”
I’d prefer to “talk” after she “drops,” permanently.
Dear Diane;
If an enemy has designs on the United States, what do you think is more intimidating?
1.5 million men in the military who are armed? or
1.5 million men in the military who are armed, and 100 million civilians who have semi-auto assault weapons?
Give it some thought. I know this will be challenging for you.
She would be like A Dog

“No. Your move.”
If anyone asks you why that is you attitude, the only appropriate answer is, “BFYTW.”. At that point, they ought to get a similar thought in their minds as the Brits did in the late 1770s.

Until they wish to use that ‘law’ against YOU.
IMO, EVERY law should have a 5-10yr sunset. It’s such a good law, (re)vote for the same. Course, then I can see ALL govt creating these 1000pg+ monstrosities and passing in one go...
bill to ban the sale of military-style assault weapons
So any weapon then? When I served in the early 1970’s my issued sidearm as a .38 caliber pistol. So was that a military style assault weapon?
Thanks for letting me know.
I've had an assault sledge hammer for some time. I've been thinking about painting it drab olive-green. Guess I'll have to give up that dream, lest it be mistaken for 'millitary-style.'
How 'bout black? Can I paint it black?
Here's a short list of my "assault weapons:"
Sledge hammer (as mentioned above)
Non-ethanol gasoline powered chain saw (yes, those evil, evil fossil fuels)
Weed wacker with stainless steel cutting cable
And my secret assault weapon I keep concealed in the kitchen, an eight inch knife with dangerous, serrated blade.
Gee, I feel so safe. May have to take a trip to Wal*Mart to add to my collection of assault weapons. I've been hankering for a Phillips screwdriver, possibly battery powered. I promise to use rechargeable batteries.
Yes, I believe so...
