November 15, 2017 - It's been two months since Amazon announced they will be searching for a site for their new co-headquarters, resulting in hundreds of applications and endless speculation. Now we have the answer.
Trust us - it's going to be Atlanta.
So says the collective wisdom of urbanists, researchers, pundits and publications. The team at Sperling's BestPlaces collected 18 of the most reputable lists and rankings of potential Amazon HQ2 locations. Using those rankings, we created one huge super-study which tallied how each location performed and from that, we generated a score for each place.
Sperling's Amazon HQ Hyper-Ranking
1. Atlanta 2. Boston 3. Chicago 4. Philadelphia 5. Washington, D.C. 6. Austin 7. Dallas 8. Denver 9. New York City 10. Raleigh (full list of 64 at the end of this document)

Well, in some sense it is.
Bezos is looking for a city that will give 5 billion in tax breaks, will pony up for infrastructure costs (i.e. your tax dollars), is a major metropolitan area with a large airport, and is packed with flaming hipster liberals.
That ought to narrow it down some.
That’s not all that big a deal in ATL, nor in the grand scheme of things for UPS, and has little to do with the location of an Amazon HQ operation.
I sort of hope they don’t come to ATL.
UPS is building a 1.2 million sqft hub in Atlanta.
There’s a big fat clue!
Sounds like Baltimore, Raleigh or Nashville then, depending upon one’s definition of “major airport.”
When I visit, it already looks overwhelmed. The city planners did not do commuters any favors with their spider web street designs either. They can't damage Atlanta or Baltimore much more though.
I’m sure that a company with a lot of products in stock is going to go to a city whose government encourages riots and looting. NOT!
What’s the pilferage rate at Amazon’s current center?
Nonsense.
It will be west of the Rocky Mountains.
Take that to the bank.
Likely within 2hrs air shuttle from Seattle. And they will have their own shuttle, as do all the very large tech companies.
It will also be outside any high-risk earthquake zone as Seattle is high risk. And very near a transcontinental fiber hub. And very near a transcontinental power grid hub.
Knowing these guys, it will also be in a “cool” college town.
Save this post. I’ll be proven correct.
Same here. In Orlando our politicians whore the city out to just about any company that shows any interest in the city.
Large Guatemalan labor force.
Atlanta has all of that and all the Chicago to boot
You dont know Atlanta
It’s going to go to the place that cuts loose with the billions and billions in financial incentives that Amazon wants.
so, they don’t actually know? Clickbait fake news BS.
CC
I don’t suppose the area Amazon is looking at is in the bit in Dekalb County...?
smart money is on Austin
Boston really needs something to keep the cost of living skyrocketing.
The fact that three months of the year it is a God Forsaken Slush pond should not have any bearing on its selection.
Austin has a executive airport and plenty of ‘land’ around there. I wouldn't be surprised if they build next to the airport and toll road, and stay out of the ‘city’.
One of the main problems with Austin is the traffic. It really bottlenecks in spots, and the fact that lots of people want to live there.
