Papa John's Pizza apologized Tuesday night for comments made by CEO John Schnatter blaming sluggish pizza sales on NFL players kneeling during the national anthem.
The Louisville, Kentucky-based company is a major NFL sponsor and advertiser, and Schnatter said on an earnings call on Nov. 1 that "NFL leadership has hurt Papa John's shareholders" and that the protests "should have been nipped in the bud a year and a half ago."
The company tweeted a statement offering to "work with the players and league to find a positive way forward."

Papa John’s does not put on enough toppings. You pay extra for green pepper or onions and you get 1/18th of a green pepper and 1/18th of an onion. A better pizza is to buy a cheapie like Jacks or Red Baron and doctor it up with extra sharp cheese, parmesan, pepperoni, ham, onions, parsley, and oregano. It is a better pizza and a lot cheaper.

Too bad - we liked PJ’s - but since they’ve folded and won’t support decent standards of supporting our flag, anthem and all who’ve fought for this country, we’ll never buy another one of their pizzas!

Another reason to avoid Papa John’s and maybe Pizza in particular. High cholesterol, heartburn and other problems come from the nefarious stuff and low purchase cost of the raw material and high mark up guarantee great opportunities for Mafia money-laundering.
Eat more chicken, buffalo and salmon.

Schnatter’s statement was fine with me. He needs to fire the company flack who undercut him.
Oh for the love of Pete. Did anyone EVER stand up and say what they mean without whimpering back and apologizing shortly thereafter? Good grief, say what you mean and stand by it.
IF you politicize large pizza chains by their respective CEO/Owners actions and ideology, then it would be crystal clear which chain conservatives should choose to patronize.
