My oldest son, wrestling with a 4-year-olds happy struggles, is trying to clarify how many people can be his best friend. My best friends are you and Mama and my brother and But even a childs joy is not immune to this ominous political period. This summers images of violence in Charlottesville, Va., prompted an array of questions. Some people hate others because they are different, I offer, lamely. A childish but distinct panic enters his voice. But Im not different.
It is impossible to convey the mixture of heartbreak and fear I feel for him. Donald Trumps election has made it clear that I will teach my boys the lesson generations old, one that I for the most part nearly escaped. I will teach them to be cautious, I will teach them suspicion, and I will teach them distrust. Much sooner than I thought I would, I will have to discuss with my boys whether they can truly be friends with white people.
Meaningful friendship is not just a feeling. It is not simply being able to share a beer. Real friendship is impossible without the ability to trust others, without knowing that your well-being is important to them. The desire to create, maintain or wield power over others destroys the possibility of friendship. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.s famous dream of black and white children holding hands was a dream precisely because he realized that in Alabama, conditions of dominance made real friendship between white and black people impossible.
...
As against our gauzy national hopes, I will teach my boys to have profound doubts that friendship with white people is possible.

I grew up in an area with a lot of Sioux Indians.
The Indians hated the white man, the white man hated the Indians. We all loved Nebraska football and would get together and complain about the game.
Us kids? We ran around playing cowboys and Indians. We all lived on farms, and wanted to be the Indians. Playing raising cattle was no fun when you actually HAD to do that later.
We all thought our folks just liked to complain, but they would all get together if someone needed it. And then complain afterwords
Honestly, we saved our scorn for our (German) true ethnic enemies, the Swedes. I knew a couple dozen swear words for Swedes, and not one for any other group, by the time I was 10.
Sound more like acquaintances.
Regards,
I won’t read the article but my daughter is white and her two best friends are Christian black girls living in southeast Virginia. Democrats want always to divide us by how we are different when God shows how we are the same.
There, fixed it fer yuh!

Excerpt of the article:
"Thirty-eight percent of whites felt most blacks were racist. Even blacks agreed, with 31 percent saying most blacks were racist, while 24 percent of blacks thought most whites racist and 15 percent believed most Hispanics were racist."
I’d say one is an acquaintance and two others are closer to friends, but yeah don’t have them over to dinner or anything, don’t go to events with them.
However, it’s much better than being enemies.
Friends / acquaintances: An important distinction!
Regards,
Notice the complete absence of any responsibility by blacks for their pitiful condition by the author. The crime, irresponsibility, the refusal to do any of the things necessary for success in our society. The only problem is white people. Meanwhile for 50 years we have bent over backwards to bring them into the American family. They simply refuse to be a productive part of it.
I feel so sorry for that kid.
That evil woman is going to ruin his life by teaching him to be a racist and Bigot.
He will have to be an incredible man to be able to resist that evil influence.
If he wants to help his kid tell him that to succeed he is going to have to work hard because he is competing with whites and Asians who are constantly pushed to do better. You can’t coast in this society.
That’s why they want to fundamentally transform it.
Um, didn't a White guy drive into a White woman in Charlottesville? And he didn't even kill her, she was obese and died of a heart attack at the hospital. And he has not even been arraigned yet (why is that, by the way?)
How would a Black child interpret that as against him? Unless of course his parents TOLD him it was.

When black people teach their children this, there is no future for this remaining a single nation of equals.
Racism is taught. It is passed down from one generation to the next and that's what she's doing.
Hitlery Rotten Clinton (Corrupt AF) lost. Get over yourself. Does she not recall that Hillary and Bill Clinton were being called racists while she posed a primary challenge to Golden Child Obama (also a racist) in 2008?
so true
none of which is reported by the media, but the first reports are sure as hell reported, for over a week to the nation.
The NYT fomenting racial division.
Minorities are used as pawns by the NYT.
The Lefts plan: Divide and Conquer.
This is another reason the Left wants to flood the country with nonwhites from 3rd world toilets - more grist for the mill.
Racism raises its ugly head again.
Thanks NYT.
