Recently, U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore was accused of dating before he was married. How is this a crime? The females were 14 to 18 years old, and he was 32. Also, he got to "second base" with the 14 year old. Technically, no crime was committed, but people regard his behavior as inappropriate. In 2017, the combination of ages is considered wrong. Was it always wrong? Let us look at some history about appropriate ages.
In modern times, there have been many May-December marriages. Some examples come from President Trump. He married Ivana when he was 31 and she was 28. Later, he married Marla when he was 47 and she was 30. He married Melania when he was 59 and she was 35. The husband gets older, but the bride is always around 30 years old.
The king of robbing the cradle is probably Hugh Hefner. His wives on their wedding days were, in chronological order, 23, 27, and 26.
The biggest contrast in ages is probably when Anna Nicole Smith married J. Howard Marshall. They were 26 and 89.
The youngest bride age in a famous marriage is when the founder of Islam, Muhammad, married Aisha, who was six. They consummated when she was nine. Liberals dare not complain about this arrangement, lest they insult the "religion of peace."

My grandmother was married at 16, when my grandfather was 27.
In her defense, she was an “old” 16, being the eldest of 13 children and she had already spent years helping to raise many of her younger siblings, in addition to lots of farm and housework.
As time has past, a younger age has meant less mature in many ways that it used to. Conversely, like in my grandmother’s case she was considerably more mature at 16 than are most 16 year old girls today.
In 1979, when Moore was 32, the median age of marriage for women was 22; today it’s 27.

I was stationed in Alabama from 1973 to 1976, and at that time it was legal for a girl to marry at 13 with parental permission, and 16 without permission. I knew several locals and even GI’s who were in their 20’s who were married to 13, 14 and 15 year old girls.
Don’t forget Jerry Lee Lewis’ 13 year old bride...and the fact that the marriageable age for girls in many Southern states was only raised from 14 in the last couple of decades. Southerners like to be married, and girls married very young - so young that if a man waited, the older ones were all “took” by then and the marriageable pool was generally younger girls.
It sounds as if Moore was dating, looking for a wife, not trying to bed children (as it’s being made to sound now). As for the supposed 14 year old, who says she “thinks that at some point she told him” that she was 14 - forget her. If she ever met him at all, she never told him her real age - and in the early photo that has been published, she could easily be 17 or older (a baby slut, in other words).

Creepy? How so? I assume you’re commenting on a disparity of ages, so tell us what the appropriate ages are for dating teenagers of various ages from 13 to 19. And refer please to both female and male adults dating younger teens. Take your time, we’ll all wait.
