Democrats appeared poised to make huge gains in the Republican-controlled House of Delegates and potentially take control of the chamber for the first time in 18 years as strong voter turnout put a slew of GOP incumbents in danger of losing their seats.
The biggest upsets occurred early in Northern Virginia, where Democrat Danica Roem became the first transgender person elected to the House of Delegates, defeating social conservative Del. Robert G. Marshall, R-Prince William, and Democrat Lee Carter shocked House Republican Whip Jackson H. Miller, R-Manassas, despite tepid support from his own party.

Where were the Russians????
Agree with you on the impact of Charlottesville. The fraud there needs to be exposed. Have been trying to get it exposed. Exposing that fraud is important for the nation and the world too, not just for Virginia here.
Virginia’s demographics may be problematic for Republicans to begin with. Add intentionally stirred up feelings from Charlottesville and very little extra effort made to expose the truth and you get a Republican loss.
The demographics have changed significantly in the last 10 years for sure. Three languages on my ballot in Fairfax Co! Also, the republicans continually gerrymandered their own Bob Marshall negatively to finally lose this race to Danica Roem IMO because Bob doesn’t fall in line with The Party.
he took the entire Tidewater area which has a big military and veteran population - what’s up with that?///
Northam hails from that area, he was also an army Doctor which helps to sucker veterans into voting for him
We need an electoral college for the state. That map
Is crazy.
We have to get out there and play to win
They already have a Regional Tax District setup to give money to the Metro. I assume they will raise that Tax during the next session saying that they are going to use the money to fix I-95 and I-66 then spend that money somewhere else. Because that is what they do.

I helped open the Trader Joe’s on Little River Turnpike almost 20 years ago and lived in Annandale for a bit. So I am familiar with NOVA. I could see it was changing then but then the Commiecrat rabble was mostly confined to the inner beltway suburbs. Now like cancer they have spread all the way to near Richmond and turned VA blue.
Vote fraud can affect some votes, but not almost 10 percent of the vote.
Remember Trump lost Virginia a year ago by a quarter of a million votes. Virginia is a blue state now and is no longer a battleground state and I doubt Trump will contest the state in 2020.
Those red areas are sparsely populated. Many of those red counties only have a couple of thousand of voters. Very blue Fairfax County alone had over 300,000 voters. I don’t understand why this is hard to grasp.
Gillespie also has very little charisma, for a politician. If the Top is to win state wide here. He must be compassionate and somewhat like Trump. Whoever that person is they ‘ll have to flip over 100,000 people.
Not compassionate but passionate. Gillespie had no fire.
He won Fairfax by 255,000 votes.
Agree, it’s all a lie. They put millions into the Virginia race. That’s probably why Charlottsville happened. Part of a plan. The dems are n trouble nation wide. So is the establishment. We must continue to defeat them.
Why is every one making this so complicated. Republicans stayed home because the party bites and who better represents that than Gillespie.
I am not even sure the Republican elites would not rather lose if it means stopping Trump. The question is what do you do about it.
I think it's closer to California. If a man who has mutilated himself to somewhat resemble a woman could get elected, you know things are bad.
I cannot agree more!
Rhetorically, how can “Socialist Lite” be a strategy to reverse socialism!
Because of all the liberals pouring into the area, DC, government jobs, etc.
Shiiiittt, we can’t even get all freepers to quit watching the NFL...
