DUBAI (Reuters) - Saudi Arabian banks have frozen more than 1,200 accounts belonging to individuals and companies in the kingdom as part of the government’s anti-corruption purge, bankers and lawyers said on Tuesday.

They added that the number is continuing to rise.

Dozens of royal family members, officials and business executives have been detained in the crackdown and are facing allegations of money laundering, bribery, extorting officials and taking advantage of public office for personal gain.

Since Sunday, the central bank has been expanding the list of accounts it is requiring lenders to freeze on an almost hourly basis, one regional banker said, declining to be named because he was not authorized to speak to media.

a more liberated peoples in SA?

less whabbiasm?

If either of these become reality, I'd expect a massive backlash from the fundamentalists in Saudi Arabia.

The same CIA director that fully believes the Russians broke into the DNC computers and helped Donald Trump (Pompeo)?

Better to have a dictator that shares much of our national interests than a dictator who supports radical Islam.

Why is this not done here in the USA?
We can block Soros and his 800+ thug groups along with other billionaires who find riots and undermining the USA fun.

This is going to bite very hard on many businesses and investors just from the fall out...I suspect a lot of politicians are scrambling to cover their assets as well as their connections from being revealed....

I had always assumed that the above 'allegations' were SOP over in the Middle East. It's SOP over here in the US. Well, it has been a long time, but that may change due to Trump. Funny how things have started changing for the better since he took office. Now it's spreading around the world.

You have to hand it to this kid—he knows how to throw a purge!

I hope he knows he’s going to have to kill a lot of these guys. They are all about revenge.

It is very unlikely that Aramco will be listed at NYSE. If they do it they have to comply with the regulations and disclose their oil reserves, use real accounting etc.

Then we can see that KSA is more or less bankrupt.
