At least 16 people have been shot inside a Texas church after a gunman opened fire during the Sunday morning service.

The shooting happened at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, where around 50 people usually attend service, according to local reports.

Witnesses said a man 'in full gear' walked inside the church and opened fire just before 10.30am.

Neighbors in the area said they may have heard the shooter reload multiple times.

Another witness at the scene said a two-year-old was also shot in the attack.

According to KSAT, there were at least six helicopters called in to transport victims to the hospital.

It's unclear if anyone was fatally wounded in the attack.

I carry ev ryehere. Even in church whether they like it or not. My spouse and I even have a plan if something like this happens.

Screw the freaking gun grabbers. I’ll become a criminal before I’ll give up my weapon. They wouldn’t lift a finger to protect any one of us. On the contrary, tptb are hellbent to import people who will do their best to kill us. It’s up to me to protect my family.

End of story.

“Today would be the Anniversary of their marriage if that facebook profile is his account”

Has ISIS claimed it yet?

Better grab it before it’s scrubbed.

That just means that his post from 2015 was the last “public” post he made. Everything after that is only visible to his Facebook “friends” so you’ll only be able to see those posts if you are friends with him. From the look of his wife’s page, they’ve been having issues lately.

Not surprised. We are paying for the rejection of Jewish/Christian values.

"For some reason, my first thought was this was going to be domestic related."

Same here: domestic related, and/or a disgruntled member of the congregation.

27 dead and 24 wounded, looks like 100%.

Locked doors and trained and armed ushers, even though the odds of such happening at a given church are small, that seems like a reasonable precaution these days.

We know our carriers, we know locations of the carriers and we've practiced various scenarios.

Churches have been shot up for the last ten years.

No excuse.

Even after Sandy Hook, a group of us went to the Bishop and pastor at our Methodist church and begged to either add cops or allowed concealed carry. They said “NOPE”...the Lord will save us. We were pretty upset. Guess what? There are a half dozen guys I KNOW carry concealed in our Methodist church. I know of 3 women too.

FB/Twitter: Chris Ward killed his family and then shot up the church and fled. FWIW. What is his MUSLIM name?

Why would a Muslim terrorist shoot up his own family first?

Nope. Just another loser, emasculated white guy who was never taught how to deal with the challenges life throws at you.

FReepers always say that kind of crap would never happen in Texas.

Would you mind holding your anti-Texas bullcrap until we at least know the condition of those who were shot?

If that even is the guy (I won’t post his name unless it is confirmed), the FB profile talks about his wedding on Nov 5, 2011 - six years ago today. So today would be his anniversary. Doesn’t seem to be any public activity since 2011 but what I saw, he seems to have had some issues. Again, not sure if this is the guy from today so just reporting what I saw on that linked profile.

Shocking as it may seem, it isn’t only Muslims who kill people.
