The national GOPs director of evangelical outreach is quitting, and lodging complaints about what he calls the partys tone deaf attitude toward a crucial Republican voting bloc.
Chad Connelly, who served as the Republican National Committees director of faith engagement for the last four years, announced his resignation in an email circulated to close friends late Thursday. He complained that religious outreach has not been prioritized at the RNC under the leadership structure implemented by President Donald Trumps White House.
The treatment I received from the new political department has been disrespectful, antagonistic and unacceptable, Connelly wrote in an email that was obtained by The Associated Press. He added, GOP Faith in general and me in particular, just dont have the priority I anticipated.
The Republican National Committee rejected Connellys assertion and said his departure had more to do with concerns about his job performance. [ ]
Connelly previously served as the chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party. He was an ally of former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, who tapped Connelly to serve as the RNCs first-ever director of faith engagement in 2013.

Evangelicals had no right to think this administration would do anything for them.
Trump instituted the RNCs leadership structure? Really?
...to which faith? Militant Islam?
Another whiney anti-Trumper. The RNC is well rid of him.
The evangelical wing has no where to go. The democrat socialists persecute them, but they are a good, solid block of conservative voters and should have an honored place at the table.
It sounds like this guy is not the right evangelical leader to do the job at the WH level.
hello, dude, this was your chance to show your deeper faith to people in need, some of which may be just getting growing in Christ. Funny you don’t rise to your calling, but instead complain and quit on God’s purpose for you at this time.
Did I understand you right?
We don’t know one single thing about this so-called “faith ambassador”. He makes no complaint against Trump.
How you conjure up blame against Trump every time a breeze comes up and NEVER cough up a single human who has done MORE for Christians than he, and against all odds, I’m sure I don’t know!
It blows my mind the ungratious whine memes from the NeverTrump curs still hanging around here. Who the hell are you people?
This guy could not, or would not, do the job according to GOP leadership. How is any of this Trump’s fault?
This guy is no evangelical. Man, you are messed up.
Sounds like a whiny little dude. Preibus ally kinda figures. The Lord likes perseverance l believe and this guy seems to lack it.
You need to learn to read English. I didn’t say anything about Trump. I said this guy is stupid to think he would get any better treatment than this. Which is true. Evangelicals don’t have any voice in this.
It absolutely isn't Trump's faults. It's Evangelical voter's fault. They voted for an atheistic nation. They shouldn't complain about it now.
Evangelicals just aren’t getting the money they wanted. Not deserved, just wanted.
The GOP-E regards evangelicals as useful idiots, nothing more.
Jesus got far worse treatment than this dweeb.
This guy is running for Congress to fill Mulveney’s seat.
He is a Romney friend.
No, that is not what you said. It isn’t my English. You said “out of this administration”. This administration IS *Trump*. It’s the Trump administration.
However, thanks for the clarification.
thank you
If GOP doesn’t have faith that place is ripe to evangelize. If they do, what is he complaining about?
I read the story. Connelly said this:
He (Connelly) complained that religious outreach has not been prioritized at the RNC under the leadership structure implemented by President Donald Trumps White House.
I don't know how you can see that as not complaining about Trump.
