I read the story. Connelly said this:

I don't know how you can see that as not complaining about Trump.
That’s not a direct quote of Connelly, take note. That’s the AP’s spin.
He had no complaint when he went in the door, with that structure “Trump implemented”.
Religious boy is mad plainly at the RNC for not prioritizing religious outreach. He lays no personal axe directly toward Trump whatsoever.
