Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina said he has confidence in Special Counsel Robert Mueller and praised his service record Wednesday on Americas Newsroom.
This is a really difficult political environment were in. Im not sure you could find anyone not named Jesus that everyone would be happy with. I actually am satisfied with Robert Muller, Gowdy said during the Fox News interview.
Gowdy said it shouldnt matter who leads an investigation into the Uranium One deal because it should ultimately follow the facts to a logical conclusion.
Investigations should follow facts and it really shouldnt matter whos leading them. Facts are what direct it, he said. I know Im in a small group among Republicans but I actually have confidence hes going to reach the right conclusions for the right reasons and hell have credibility with the American people when hes done.

OMG are you kidding me?!?
I don’t know how this is all going to play out, but it would certainly be amusing if Mueller’s probe ended up indicting various Democrats such as the Podesta group, and essentially left Trump untouched. There are plausible arguments why this is possible, despite Mueller’s supposed anti-Trump bias and his hiring of Democrat-leaning lawyers.
1. Mueller needs to indict some people, probably multiple people, to justify the tremendous amount of time and money he has consumed. Special prosecutors historically do not come up empty handed. They don’t end up saying “Oh well, it turns out nothing illegal happened, good bye.” Given the plethora of laws in this country, it’s always possible to find a few that a target has violated (or at least can be accused of violating). Mueller and his team will keep digging and digging until they cobble together indictments.
2. But the indictments don’t have to be against Trump or his family or close advisors. That may have been Mueller’s original preference, but if it turns out to be Podesta or Fallon or Fusion LLC or Manafort, that still justifies the probe. Reputation-wise, Mueller would come out looking like a hero for being fair and non-partisan. Democrats would be privately pissed, but they couldn’t complain too loudly after spending months publically lionizing Mueller. Republicans and Trump would shower Mueller with praise. On the other hand, Mueller knows that if he just tries to indict Trump or Trump’s close associates, Trump will viciously attack Mueller and half the country will hate him. And Trump will also pardon any of the targets, thus rendering all of Mueller’s efforts moot.
2. The bottom line is that unless Trump and his campaign truly did something highly illegal, any attempt by Mueller to “get” Trump will have painful repercussions for Mueller and won’t end up destroying Trump. Whereas going after the Democrat/Russian connections will have pleasant consequences for Mueller. So, does Mueller pick pain or pleasure? We’ll see.
He never saw anything wrong with Hillary’s testimony on Benghazi either, or she would never have been able to run for the presidency. He is worthless as tits on a boar.
Just a thought ...
Leave it to Freepers to engage in endless pearl-clutching over nothing.
In his inauguration speech Trump talked a lot about draining the swamp. Getting rid of the corruption and dirty money rampant in Washington among the political class. I want to feel like he’s really following through...it’s the only thing that explains why he’s getting such heat from all sides.
I agree. I used to like the guy, but he’s just another phony. He has to hold the record for investigations that have gone nowhere.
I think the plea deal Mueller struck with Trump when Trump appointed him began with this announcement from Trump to Mueller:
"I've got you and Rosenstein by the short hairs on that Uranium 1 deal. You play nice with Jeff Sessions as we all very secretly draw up the case against Comey, Lynch, Clinton, et. al., and I won't turn around and appoint a Special Counsel to investigate you and your boy "Rosy" for your own involvement in Uranium 1.
"Let's all keep the MSM following he "shiny things" and make it look like it's all about investigating me -- like you're all in for the Establishment. When Nunuez gets the financial records about the Podesta boys that my man Manafort had the evidence for and that we "raided" his house to get (to throw every one off) and then we drop the hammer, and dragnet the lot of them."
All makes sense to you there ol' Mueller baby?
FReegards!
“Ill agree with you in that the entire investigation was designed to be a giant head fake”
Can you base that on anything, ANYTHING at all other, than imagination?
Has Mueller ever done anything that straight? The one who stood idly by, with a ton of evidence, and said nothing about Hillary’s crooked deal, and now emerges super-righteous?
Possibly.
I’m not sure that this is coming to light because of him.
I could be wrong on that.
But I thought it has come to light due to someone suing Fusion GPS.
“Leave it to Freepers to engage in endless pearl-clutching over nothing.”
We will find out in the end whether it is something or nothing.
Do you really think hell throw his bud Comey under the bus?
It may go like this: Mueller gives up Comey, Comey gives up Lynch, Lynch gives up ... Hill & Bill ... and/or Obama?
Trump has the sword of Special Counsel hanging over all of this. He appoints whoever he wants and the SC goes where-ever it goes.
Grassly is already talking today about calling for a SC for Uranium 1.
Stay tuned ...
(I only wish I had invested in popcorn futures when I had the chance!)
FReegards!
I think Lynch would throw herself under the bus before Obama. The Clintons..maybe.
My thoughts exactly!
You are right. Let’s see where it goes. One thing is certain, there is nothing on trump.
Can you say, "Prosecutorial discretion?"
