With the horrific shooting that recently took place in Las Vegas, debates over gun control have been given center stage in our media and politics once again.
And while every pundit seems to have their own surefire way of combatting gun violence, they all gloss over the elephant in the room.
Which is, although mass shootings have taken on a repulsive popularity recently, the gun violence surrounding the War on Drugs has created more casualties than every mass shooting in the US combined.
And despite the fact that these commentators tirelessly argue the merits and faults of one anothers ideas, one thing is certain; we can and should end the Drug War, immediately.
Drug trafficking brings in as much as $750 billion in the US each year. Much of that money goes to gangs which have immersed themselves from start to finish in creating, smuggling, and selling drugs throughout the country. If you purchase drugs in any major city in the US, chances are, they have passed through a gang at some point. Combine this with gangs inability to resolve disputes through the courts and other non-violent means, and it becomes obvious why gangs, gun violence, and drug culture are so entwined.

Would love to see a source for that number. A *credible* source that is. I don't believe it for a second.
It’s not gun violene.
It’s people violence.
End those people, end the violence.
Racing to the bottom...
That doesn't mean it's not still a good idea, though.
[With the horrific shooting that recently took place in Las Vegas]
O.K.......this is the author’s opening?
To end theft, make stealing legal.
To end government corruption, make bribery legal.
To end adultery, make sex with anyone, any time legal. (Oh, wait, we already did that.)
I don’t know if Cain was stoned when he killed Abel (or was it the other way around?), but I’m fairly certain he didn’t have access to a gun when he wiped out one quarter of the earth’s population.
Guns aren’t violent.
People are violent.
The violence of people will be here as long as people are here.
That is all.
How ‘bout we just abandon hope?
But he would not feel so all alone....
I don’t see that doing so would end gun violence. However I still think it’s a good idea to end it. And with it hopefully a whole lot of this unconstitutional asset forfeiture. Which is not forfeiture at all, it’s confiscation.
Or was he?
[ TO END GUN VIOLENCE, ABANDON THE WAR ON DRUGS ]
Thank goodness we have the sanity and rationale of Newsweak. The scumbags who bring anti-President Trump trash so much, they’re often featured on HuffPo Yahoo. Constantly.
Build the wall!
Yes, that’s the direction we’re headed.
If one is going to end the war on drugs, I would suggest ending my the silly practices of pointless emergency treatment and hospitalizations for the consequences of overdoses and IV drug use overwhelming city hospitals. If one wants to kill themselves with drugs, thats their business.
Or perhaps fight the War on Drugs like it’s an actual war.
Can’t wait to hear their solution to sex abuse of minors. /s
That is a simplistic claim that holds no truth whatsoever. While there is violence related to the drug trade, it us not the only source ore reason for rising violence in this country. Thar rising violence is the direct result of the erosion & elimination of God in our society. Without God people do not police themselves.
