The Washington Posts Philip Bump (full disclosure my former CNN colleague) is one of the first -- or maybe so far the only -- journalist at a mainstream media outlet to get what is seriously disquieting news for the mainstreamers. Heres Phils headline:
Trumps already largely won his war against the mediaPhil begins his story this way:
The choice that President Trump asks America to make is a simple one and one that hes demanded since he jumped into the presidential race. Who are you going to believe, he asks: An industry of people whose jobs depend on presenting factually accurate information about whats happening in the world or me?Well, okay. Phil has something here but right off the bat he illustrates exactly -- and I do mean exactly -- the medias problem. And from the outset, weve seen how his supporters answer that question. They believe him.
Notice the way he describes the media? Like this: An industry of people whose jobs depend on presenting factually accurate information about whats happening in the world
Not to put too fine a point on this, but the exact reason for the medias problem is precisely because millions of Americans believe the mainstream media (that would include, ahem, Phils own Washington Post) is not reportingfactually accurate information about whats happening in the world..
To the contrary, in two back-to-back presidencies -- the first of a far-left liberal Democratic Party president and the second of a populist/conservative Republican Party president -- the flat-out ideological bias of the mainstream media coverage was and is vividly in play. Which in turn has provided Trump with the easy pickings of low-hanging media bias fruit.

“You have to admit there is usually a grain of truth in what the media reports.”
A truly effective lie derives its strength from the truth around which it is constructed.
The sad thing with W was he HAD that concept of fighting back, of not playing the media’s game. That’s how he got elected. It was when he said we are not going to talk about alcohol and drugs any more and stuck to that. Before that they were hounding him daily. Seemed like they kind of wore him down by his second term.
Don't they wish.
The beatings are going to get much worse, and they will look back on these days with great longing.
The purpose of that sort of analysis was to get you to invest in media companies.
Be very careful, it sounds like BS to me.
Bingo.
While Reagan said freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction, he argued that it must be fought for, protected, and handed on to our children for them to do the same. He didn't throw in the towel. Neither did the people who fought back against CNN whey they tried to blackmail the gif poster.
By most accounts, at the time of the Revolution, 20% were Loyalists, 33-45% were Patriots, and the rest were ballast. If you replace Loyalist with statist, and Patriots with Deplorables, we are right where we started. AND YET...I see a future. As did everyone along the journey in the US. You gotta have faith, and a serious assessment of the situation. And nerves of steel.
As noted elsewhere, Liberals have made politics their religion...What they really want is liberal Sharia law, a secular theocracy....for them, politics is the means to secular salvation. The minimum wage, gender equality, nationalized health care, and global warmingwhatever their practical virtuesare not just expedient policy prescriptions. They are essential aspects of the liberal fatwa...Question them and you are not just wrongyou are a heretic.
I believe, in part, this is why Trump and his retinue keep using Twitter and rallies to remind we Deplorables that, indeed, there's more of us than them, and to not despair. Our steadfast and visible defense of all that is good and right is a partial antidote to this social virus. Everyone wants to win, and one can only hope that further winning will help turn these misguided souls to our side.
I haven't seen fear in the media like this since Reagan fired PATCO. As I said, it's tense out there, and I am fearful that we may let this watershed moment in US history be wasted. But I am confident we won't. As evidence that many are "with us", consider the clever memes that evince that sentiment (I apologize for impacted sensibilities):
Let us celebrate, fellow Deplorables. Let not our faces be long with #NeverTrumpism or CNN. We are on the ascent. Our President - a billionaire from Queens - is more like us than any other guy we've had in a LONG time. The future of our Nation - nay, civilization - where we'll always have 20% of the citizenry being chronic whiners, is bright again.
I object to that cartoon with President Trump giving the finger.
He doesn’t operate that way.
Obama did.
And yet there is also the so called ‘big lie’ which doesn’t have to have any verisimilitude at all, the less the better for it to be the more outrageous.
Great comment, SamAdams.
I didn’t read Suz Tzu in depth, but it seems that President Trump effortlessly attacks the enemedia when they least expect it. Their pride forces them to defend everything they believe in and everyone they support. This causes them to lose focus because they have to fight on so many fronts. If they coalesce on something, he attacks something else, and they have to fight the new battle.

“An industry of people whose jobs depend on presenting factually accurate information about whats happening in the world”
There are levels of boobishness. There’s knowing you don’t know something. Worse is being unaware you don’t not knowing something. The MSM is of the second kind.
“Trump Has Beaten the Liberal Media”
trump has beaten the LEFTIST media ...
people continue to talk about “liberalism”, but that is long past. What’s really going on at all levels is pure leftism, which is liberalism on steroids will all of its classic mitigating elements stripped away, leaving nothing but a stark and raw desire for complete government ownership and control of every aspect of all of our lives by an all-powerful elitist ruling element that governs solely by pure force.
but i digress. Trump didn’t make war on the leftist media, they made war on him, and they are the ones who imploded themselves with a tsunami of lies and one-sided propaganda so blatant that even the most uninformed citizens couldn’t fail to see that the fake stream media no longer even attempted to report news, but had a single objective exclusive of all else: destroy and bring down President Trump by any means possible.
A truly effective lie derives its strength from the truth around which it is constructed.
Pithy and oh so correct.
I get the feeling that people hunger for real news these days, especially during a catastrophic natural event (fire, earthquake, etc.). It's tiresome to have to wade through the entertainment, advertisements, and opinion dreck to find the solid news.
I'm a fan of Jeffrey Lord, but there is nothing democratic about the Democrat party.

CORRECTION: Trump has already won the media’s war against him!
