WASHINGTON A senior congressional aide who has been briefed on the deaths of four U.S. servicemen in Niger says the ambush by militants stemmed in part from a "massive intelligence failure."
The Pentagon has said that 40 to 50 militants ambushed a 12-man U.S. force in Niger on Oct. 4, killing four and wounding two. The U.S. patrol was seen as routine and had been carried out nearly 30 times in the six months before the attack, the Pentagon has reported.

No doubt that massive intelligence failure was due to the CIA being preoccupied with screwing Trump is some form or fashion. Time to start cleaning house there and at the FBI.
The initial reports had the Americans in the back of a truck.
That’s not a Special Forces patrol.
A single anonymous senior congressional aide says so, so it must be true. Right? I mean Right?
Well we do know that Gen. Kelly’s son died during the Obama Presidency. There were others also, but the press wasn’t interested in reporting on them non stop like they do when they die under a Republican Presidency.
Kelly explained that. It was one of the few questions asked after his speech. He said American troops are all over the world in areas that are being attacked by ISIS, training the local military to oppose them so that American guys don’t have to do all the fighting.
This is more of an accepted pronunciation than Poccky-stahn.
...and we should not be reading or discussing anything by someone that leaks and wont put his name on.
[And were in Niger because.......]
Well, this guy from there emailed me. He has $35 million dollars he needs to get out of the country. If I just give him my bank routing number, account number and SSN he’s going to split it with me.
Sooooo, I should have $17.5 million dollars coming any day now.
Oh, I’ll explain the income as “Scrod”.
Scrod’s making a comeback!
And losses as “Breakage”.
Name names or this must be considered more of NBC’s FAKE NEWS.
I certainly hope that any foreign aid budget to Niger is reduced to $0.00
Earlier this week, McCain said the committee had not been provided with the information about the Niger mission that it "deserves."
McCain again. Waiting for the Pentagon to conclude its investigation might mean losing some time on a microphone and an opportunity to criticize.
Don't ever march home the same way. Take a different route so you won't be ambushed.
Pardon my experience based on another democrat’s Vietnam War “planning”. but if you send an Army patrol into the same place over the same terrain more than 30 times, is not an even-not-alert enemy able to “Perhaps” figure out your pattern and set up an ambush?
If you send your SAC aircraft in nice pretty SAC-controlled patterns down the same air lanes night after night using exactly the same radar setups and bomb ranging turns and radio call-signs to bomb the same targets night after night at the same time, is it not reasonable for the enemy to shoot at the right altitude at the right time to kill you?
Do these Obama-era leftovers think repeating the same patrol will do anything different than it did the last time?

I believe John McCain’s bitter hate for President Trump is a bigger security risk to our military.
McCain has way too much knowledge of the workings of our military operations on foreign soil.
We know he hates Trump with a passion. (I believe McCain & Mueller had the dossier created)
I saw a headline saying McCain said the WH was not telling the whole truth about the ambush. Is no one going to ask McCain what the he11 he’s talking about?!
From the article:
“Gen. Thomas Waldhauser, commander of AFRICOM since 2016, told Congress in March that only 20 to 30 percent of AFRICOM’s needs for “intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance” flights were being met. The Marine Corps general said there weren’t enough helicopters to find wounded or dead soldiers, and that African partners weren’t able to help with recovery missions.
“For personnel recovery,” he said, “Africa Command relies heavily on contract search and rescue assets.”

Problem with Intel identified in March.
Relying on contract search and recovery?
Article: “The enemy force had “technical” vehicles light, improvised military vehicles and rocket-propelled grenades, the official said.”
Those technical vehicles are light pickup trucks mounting machine guns or guy with RPGs. Back during the war between Libya and Chad in the 1980s the Chadian forces used Toyota pickups and one nick name for the conflict was “The Toyota Wars”. see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chadian%E2%80%93Libyan_conflict
Also, note that it was 4 US soldiers and an unknown number of Niger troops versus 40-50 ambushers.
Cuz there’s bad folks there, or something. But does America care? Not really. When only 1% serve and it’s all paid for by the national credit card, we can keep this up right until the collapse.
