Trump’s tax proposal won’t actually help the middle class.
Washington Post ^ | 19 Oct 17 | By Catherine Rampell

President Trump campaigned on helping the little guy. His latest tax proposal, he says, is about helping the middle guy.

“It’s a middle-class bill,” Trump promised an audience of truckers last week.

Other administration officials and House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) have also claimed that their primary objective in reconfiguring the tax code is to help the middle class, not the wealthy.

But this tax bill is an abortion.

“re the corporate tax breaks....their tax breaks will have no good bearing on my finances...”

Tax breaks for businesses help the local economy, which helps everyone. That is why cities, counties and states often offer tax breaks to a company - to entice them to move into a state. Because businesses competing for labor is good for labor.

I’m retired. But I still strongly believe that a pro-business economy brings me many benefits. Losing the child tax credit when my kids got older hurt me big time. But I didn’t whine and complain and say I was paying for their college out of pocket even while the government starting taking more from me.

I’d eliminate the child tax credit. Would have when I was benefiting from it. Why? Don’t see where it is any business of the government how many kids I have, or their ages. Same with what state I live in. If I choose to live in a state like CA, NJ or NY, what business is it of the Feds? And since those states by themselves make it very hard for any conservative to get elected to national office...screw them and their residents. I’d love to be part of a country with 47 states. Make that 46. Throw out Hawaii too. The rest of us would have a great country.

Most of them can’t read or reason. It takes a couple of reviews to realize just how corrupt and damaging this tax plan is. It EFF’s the Middle class in several ways...which smart people will know, or research. I don’t have the energy anymore to refute all the Republican claims. But it’s a POS to the core, and will do significant damage to the middle class, America and Small Business. Of course, one could remain stupid and go out advocating for it like a good little Republican.

Amen!

And that is what they are counting upon.

That we be good little enablers.

The fact that so many here on Free Republic have chosen to do so sickens me.

“....should be destroyed.”

LOLOL!!!!!
Now that’s funny.

I’d suggest subsidizing states that protect criminal aliens is a deeply flawed policy since there’s no guarantee they will remain within that’s states borders.

We have nothing in common. Your Selfish me me me conservatives are worse than liberals. You should know better. The tax law sucks all the way around but no changes are acceptable that hurt you. “The Republicans have leaked aspects of the bill to the media for months. “

Yeah right. Always unnamed sources. How do you know it isn’t media speculation? You don’t. The media and a lot of republicans want Trump to fail. So they flood the news with what unnamed sources are saying. That’s why I want to read the bill itself. If there is even a bill written yet.

“Your the one wanting a tax break because your in a high tax area”

That’s some of the dumbest shit I’ve hear espoused on FR.

The state with the highest PERCENTAGE of people who take SALT deductions is South Carolina.

The 3rd highest state overall, net, is Texas.

Overall, 43 million Americans between $80k and $160k per year itemize and take the SALT deductions. They include excise taxes on the truck and the boat, property taxes, school bonds and SALES TAXES. In addition to state income taxes.

It is also taken by every small business in the USA.

The deduction is taken in every state in the union.

Yet, commie Social Justice Warriors like yourself think it should be eliminated, even though it was the VERY FIRST deduction ever approved by the US Congress. It was a clause in the original friggin’ income tax legislation.

Because you don’t earn enough to claim the deductions, you want to stick it to those “rich people” earning a middle class wage. Just a little more than you.

Shame on you commie Social Justice Warrior.

“By expanding the standard deduction it will offset of losing SALT for most middle-class taxpayers.”

You cannot substantiate that.

The personal exemption is halved.

“Taking the double whammy on income tax?”

It’s not just State Income Taxes.

43million Americans in every state take the exemption and deduct ever sort of state and local tax, to including Sales Taxes.

Don’t be a dumbass and buy the GOP and Heritage/CR talking points.

This is all about having the middle class fund a corporate tax cut, and one for the lower middle class (under $75k), and the poor with a doubling of the EITC.

The Republicans are using class warfare to buy the votes of anyone and everyone under $80k per year.

Just like the commie Democrats.

Yeah. That's right. I am a Commie Social Justice Warrior - in your book.

Perhaps I am also a retired military officer, a Conservative, and Christian who loves Jesus Christ. Quite the enemy, I see.

Perhaps you can post for us how much money you will gain from screwing the rest of us out of deductions.

How about it?

How do you know it isn’t media speculation?

Are you kidding me?!

These are the fundamentals of the bill that are tearing Congress apart.

Come on. You are not stupid.

“I’d suggest subsidizing states that protect criminal aliens is a deeply flawed policy since there’s no guarantee they will remain within that’s states borders.”

Of course it is!!!!!!!!!!!!

And stupid, uninformed people believe that’s what is being remedied by this plan.

In fact this plan damages 43 million Americans between $80k and $160k per year in every state in the union. They will no longer be able to deduct sales, excise or property taxes when they itemize. Also the state income tax.

Of course the average commie Social Justice Warrior is cool with that. They are all up for “taxing the rich”.

Because they are stupid.

How do you know that to be an absolute fact? Because Washington Post says so?

Rand Paul is on board, is he stupid too?
