Trump’s tax proposal won’t actually help the middle class.
Washington Post ^ | 19 Oct 17 | By Catherine Rampell

President Trump campaigned on helping the little guy. His latest tax proposal, he says, is about helping the middle guy.

“It’s a middle-class bill,” Trump promised an audience of truckers last week.

Other administration officials and House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) have also claimed that their primary objective in reconfiguring the tax code is to help the middle class, not the wealthy.

The states have expenses, too.

Ryan looks pretty worried — enough so that he can’t keep the look out of his eyes

The snake Ryan is all over this pornography of a tax bill. And the greedy fools who follow him are defending it.

Yes. Are you? Your the one wanting docial engineering in the tax code. Your the one wanting a tax break because your in a high tax area. I am for a flat tax or a fair tax. You want to shift taxes to someone else and being self righteous about it. I have said over and over no deductions and you are still asking for special deductions and use rich tax lawyers as the excuse. Wow are you a conservative only when it benefits you personally? I am willing to kill SS at 50 even if it hurts me to save the country. So GFY.

Damn liberals in super liberal areas thinking their conservative. Yeah you served in combat - you made sure to tell us all that in order to ensure to make sure we all knew your special and deserve even more specialized tax considerations.

Are you for or against a fair or flat tax with no deductions? Do you think companies pay taxes or shift them to customers? Would you just be happy with a special law exempting SkyPilot from all taxes?

By expanding the standard deduction it will offset of losing SALT for most middle-class taxpayers.

Millions will also benefit by it.

Taking the double whammy on income tax?
That has been avoidable for decades. Just move.

Whoa!

Slow down there.

I am saying (correctly) that the elimination of the current state and local tax deduction will cream millions of middle class Americans. And those calling for it are going to benefit.

Now.....that is a sober, and reasoned analysis.

What do you have to say about that?

Just move.

???

MrEdd - I moved my family 11 times during my military career. I moved overseas. I deployed into combat zones. I was a pilot, and I flew into and over hostile nations. I was shot at. I missed almost every birthday, Christmas, and Thanksgiving with my family. I endured stress unfathomable.

I live where I live.

Now, you tell me that have I less of a moral argument of where I live and taxes than you. Tell me.

I am listening......

False. No it will not. Where did you get that? From Paul Ryan?

You cannot even replicate the tax tables of how it will affect each and every family here if you had 10,000 lines to do so.

Why would you even choose to spew such falsehoods?

Well, if the state tax deductions get eliminated (Oregon income and high property taxes) then I’ll just move to Washington - no income tax, lower property taxes but close to 10% sales tax.

They don’t want to see it. I talked with my accountant friend. We are not rich. We will pay a few thousand more at least. And that is after a couple property tax increases to pay for tax breaks to keep plants in the area.
I do itemized deductions, because we give a lot to charity. But as long as K Street gets their way I just have to bear it.

We will see the jowls here once the bill comes due. Treat corporate taxes like individual taxes, just like they claim to be

Just move to Southern Washington and do all your shopping in Northern Oregon. #;^)

Yeah...but then I’d have to live in Vancouver - not sure I can handle that ....again.

Thinking of Gig Harbor even though it’s no Portland.

“I just wonder what took them so long to trash it”

Most of them can’t read or reason.

It takes a couple of reviews to realize just how corrupt and damaging this tax plan is.

It EFF’s the Middle class in several ways...which smart people will know, or research.

I don’t have the energy anymore to refute all the Republican claims.

But it’s a POS to the core, and will do significant damage to the middle class, America and Small Business.

Of course, one could remain stupid and go out advocating for it like a good little Republican.

I am saying deductions that are not equally applied are social engineering. I would prefer that all deductions be stopped and social engineering be removed from the tax code. EITC, child, mortgage, taxes (state and local), marriage, disadvantage area, advantage areas, health care, no health care, savings, interest... ALL deductions need to be removed for income taxes. I personally would be negatively impacted but the country would benefit.

It would make the tax code much fairer and easier. I can live (not prefer) a progressive rates (10, 15, 20 percent scales) but ultimately would like to see that die also. Tax Deductions are an attempt to use divide and conquer aka liberal tactics to separate us. That make one group winners and one group losers where we all agree that we all lose when that occurs. That is why the tax code has so many deductions.

The bigger question and much more important one is how to tax people and tax companies. That is where the meat really is. Your focused on the crumbs.
