We were born to mothers who smoked and drank
Our cribs were covered in lead based paint
No child proof lids no seat belts in cars
Rode bikes with no helmets and still here we are, still here we are
We got daddy's belt when we misbehaved
Had three TV channels you got up to change
No video games and no satellite
All we had were friends and they were outside, playin' outside
[Chorus]
It was a different life
When we were boys and girls
Not just a different time
It was a different world
School always started the same every day
The pledge of allegiance then someone would pray
Not every kid made the team when they tried
We got disappointed and that was all right, we turned out all right
[Chorus]
No bottled water, we drank from a garden hose
And every Sunday, all the stores were closed
[Chorus]
It was a different world
That song describes the world in which I grew up. But in this age of coed bathrooms, same-sex marriage, legal marijuana, professional football players protesting the National Anthem, and on and on, it seems more like a different galaxy.
Lakewood, CA?
My Mom was born in Hollywood, and we spent all my school years in a home on Woodruff in Lakewood.

The Star Spangled Banner celebrates the “home of the brave”. I stand for that one.

Thanks, Fiji, for all the tunes. ((HUGS))
Fatima, I’m really not ok. We moved in May and I am so homesick. A huge change and still trying to get my footing. I need to grow up.......and realize God is where he wants me to be right now in my life. I keep thinking this but am fighting it all the way. I hear, “y’all” and could puke. (Sorry if I offended anyone). We are renovating a house, make an appointment with a service provider person and they don’t show up or call with a ridiculous excuse why they didn’t show up. It is so hot, I go outside and my glasses fog up. Rude northerners with money everywhere. LOL
