Lakewood, CA?
My Mom was born in Hollywood, and we spent all my school years in a home on Woodruff in Lakewood.
Do you recall Dutch Village? It was a shopping mall in Lakewood on Woodruff that looked like a Dutch village--a tribute to the Dutch dairy farmers who settled the area. From the mid-1950s into the '60s, we liked to go there to shop at Fedco, a forerunner of big box membership stores like Costco and Sam's Club. Dutch Village was razed sometime in the 1980s.
We lived at the opposite end of town though: Paramount and Del Amo. Woodruff is about 3 miles from where we lived.
