Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday voiced concerns about President Trump's comments on NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice, saying Trump should not have the power to dictate who can kneel during the anthem.
"Theres a part of this story thats starting to make me nervous, and its this: I am very uncomfortable with the president of the United States being able to dictate the behavior and power of anybody. Thats not where this should be coming from," Limbaugh said on his show. Limbaugh said he believed Trump's motives were "pure," but he argued that the president's actions were unhelpful in the broader debate on players kneeling.
"Trump is continually tweeting I know what hes doing, and I understand why hes doing it, and his motives are pure; dont misunderstand. But I dont think that it is useful or helpful for any employee anywhere to be forced to do something because the government says they must," he continued.
"We dont want the president being able to demand anybody that hes unhappy with behave in a way he requires," Limbaugh added.

How sheepish!
NFL is like any business in the US. While on the job you follow their rules/regs. What you do on private time is your business. Unless there are rules in your $20 Million contract that state you can’t do anything to embarrass your employer with said behavior.
A clever rationalization but I do not think Rush implies anything of the kind.
Adding "-ster" to a verb turns it into a noun. The focus here is on "trump", as in "prevail" (cf. bridge, pinocle -- "trump" suit which beats any other suit). A "Trump-ster" is one who prevails.
Of late I've heard Rush refer to a Trump fan as a "Trumpist". This is in keeping with another name forming convention of adding the ending "-ist". This denotes an advocate of a philosophy or movement.
I am a "Trumpist", a fan of the "Trumpster".
rush was very late to jump on the trump train.
Thinking of giving NFL team ownership another shot Rush?
THIS is one of the problems of having to talk for three hours. It doesn’t bother us at all Rush so shut up and entertain us.
>> Why are so many here gobbling it up? <
Because most of us just read the headlines.
Welcome to FR!
Give me some concrete examples. Please document.
Lots of studies show people read just the first paragraph of newspapers. That’s why USA cut out everything else.
And that’s for the few people who even read something other than their text messages these days.
Trump actually did what Rush and others with a national stage should have.
Since you used the adjective "every", you should be able to find copious examples. Please do.
I heard his anti-Trump screed and his insults of supporters and cancelled my 24/7 and quit listening to him because of it.
Is Rush back on oxy?
I don’t have any documented links to Rush’s anti-Trumpism, but I listened to one of his broadcasts during the primaries, and his snide tone against Trump and his followers was alarming. I changed the radio channel and haven’t listened to him since.
Rush must have played a round of golf with some of his NFL owner buddies.
“Rush, Trump is killing us. We’re losing millions, you gotta do something...” or something like that.
Then why an I wearing safety glasses and steel toed boots? Why do I have to put on a seatbelt when driving a fork truck 2 feet on flat concrete?
I tried to listen to Rush the other day, something I rarely do any more.
The first words I heard were “iPhone 8”.
That ended it.
Trump will continue doing exactly what he is doing. He’s a true leader and leaders lead.
You are also responsible for “not hurting your employer”, especially on the job.
