Las Vegas gunman shot security guard a full six minutes before opening fire
LA Times ^ | October 9, 2017 | Matt Pearce et al

Police have dramatically changed their account of how the Las Vegas massacre began on Oct. 1, revealing Monday that the gunman shot a hotel security guard six minutes before opening fire on a country music concert — raising new questions about why police weren’t able to pinpoint the gunman’s location sooner.

Officials had previously said that gunman Stephen Paddock, 64, of Mesquite, Nev., shot Mandalay Bay security guard Jesus Campos after Paddock had unleashed his deadly volley at the Route 91 Harvest festival, an assault that began at 10:05 p.m. and left 58 people dead, with hundreds more injured.

They had credited Campos, who was shot in the leg, with stopping the 10-minute assault on the concert crowd by turning the gunman’s attention to the hotel hallway, where Campos was checking an alert for an open door in another guest’s room.

But Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said Monday that Paddock shot Campos before his mass shooting — at 9:59 p.m. — and they now don’t know why Paddock stopped his attack on the crowd.

The more I hear about this case, the more I think this guy is just a nut that happens to have a lot of money.

There is a difference between a "nut" and a cold, calculating, evil killer. He was the latter.

when will we see Mandalay Bay footage?

Five minutes after the media shows footage of people jumping out of the Twin Towers.

I haven’t seen any ‘body cams’ of police near the building; and no evidence of bullets ‘raining down’ on anyone trying to enter the building during the shooting spree.

Can you give links to what you’re describing? it’s kind of hard to follow.

I read he was responding to an open door alarm. What exactly is an open door alarm?

This story has so many major discrepancies, the authorities should just start all over and tell the truth.

The only way into the hotel was through the concert venue?

"“Shots fired in the hotel room or into the hallway and not one of the guests close by called anyone about it?”"

What about the smashing of TWO and very large, hurricaine-force-winds-proof windows before the shooting started? Were the windows smashed out before or after the security guard was shot?

DID ANYONE CALL THE FRONT DESK COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SMASHING OF THE GLASS WINDOWS? Is this what drew the guard to the room initially?

Was Paddock an arms dealer who was murdered and left behind prior to the real shooter escaping? Perhaps the shooting stopped because SWAT was seen by the shooter via the sneaky spy camera arrangement and that's when the shooter managed to escape.

The cops don't want to admit the real shooter escaped. There ARE ways to escape. You can even SIT ATOP an elevator (EVEN IF IT'S MOVING) and hide atop there for a while. MOST elevators have access hatches located in the top of the elevator:

There is a motive. Regardless if it was falsely perceived by Paddock. They know exactly what it is or at least have a good idea. Just my opinion of course. We’ll see.

How do they know the exact time of each event on the timeline?

He can be both.

No, he can't. When someone is "nuts", he's not capable of making rational decisions. That's what it means.

I see no evidence at all that he was "nuts", unless you argue that somehow every mass murderer is "nuts". All evidence we have seen so far describes a wealthy, retired accountant -- a tough profession if you're "nuts" -- and successful poker player -- again, very difficult for a "nut" -- who made the calculated choice to murder a lot of people.

That's called evil.

Btw, did they ever said if Campos previously knew Paddock?

I live in Las Vegas. You might be surprised to know that our first responders were helping all those they could even when under fire. The hospitals here were fully staffed by their employees minutes after the word got out about the shootings. The blood banks had people waiting in long lines to donate. “Vegas Strong” is our new motto.
I have no doubt plenty of guests called in after hearing gunshots and huge windows breaking. So where was the rest of Mandalay Bay security?

some of the same officers with the body cames that were on 60 minutes Sunday night. The only ones who got to the 32nd floor and breached the shooters room:

.

now tell me the ones who went into the hotel did not have bullets raining down on them?

yea, you’re welcome.

They should arm all security guards at casinos and any large event.

I mean climbing 32 floors of stairs is gonna take a good five minutes alone with vests and guns.

Pretty optimistic figure there. It would probably take me at least an hour stark naked.

“200 rounds were fired at security guard BEFORE the gunman opened fire on concert.”

Presumably the gunman saw the security guard on camera, mistook him for a cop and started shooting. This makes little sense. If the gunman hadn’t started his attack on the concert, why shoot at the cop? The second thing that doesnt fit is that the gunman is reported to have shot 200 rounds at the guard but I have not seen any bullet holes in the door or walls of the room or hallway.

Perhaps there were videos they synchronized with officer's devices.

Who Was Stephen Paddock? The Mystery of a Nondescript ‘Numbers Guy’

Learned two new points of data:
  1. Girlfriend Danley attended Catholic Mass in Mesquite:

Several days a week, she attended morning mass at a local Catholic church, said Leo McGinty, 80, a fellow parishioner who knew her from the casino.

  2. Shooter refused to discuss Donald Trump with neighbor:

Even more baffling, when Mr. McKay tried to strike up a conversation with Mr. Paddock about Donald Trump during the election campaign, he got no response.

“Almost everyone has a reaction to Trump,” said Mr. McKay’s wife, Darlene.

dunno

that’s the way the officers who eventually made it to the 32nd floor and breached the shooters room went or at least they were in the line of fire

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/las-vegas-officers-describe-storming-shooter-stephen-paddock-hotel-room/

I assume if the went in another way they would not be talking a bout bullets coming at them.

Its funny how many of you all haven’t even watched the video of the actual men who went up to the floor and were the first to breach the room.

60 minutes interview.
