It would seem an increasing number of educated people hold a different view, raising good points. I guess this is going to be another event where we may never know for sure.

I’m NOT saying I believe Professor Fetzer, but I did find his take an interesting one.

What the heck is a “bump stop”?

Rhetorical. They obviously don’t know what a stock is

he was trying to hit those fuel tanks and to do that he had to run to the second smaller room where the window was busted out then back I assume to the other window to hit the crowd.

Perhaps but if he knew what he was doing, he would have brought along something capable of penetrating the steel tanks at that distance.

The pauses between bursts saved many lives.

That’s possible. It was mentioned Paddock was possibly planning an escape. maybe he had someone waiting for him in a vehicle park away from the scene and that person took off when they saw cops swarming in force and Paddock was nowhere to be seen.
Who knows.
Maybe he was planning a suicide the entire time. Its clear we’re given little bits and pieces then some little parts of the story changes or is misreported.

Aiming at a person is way different than shooting loads of bullets into a densely packed crowd. Reflexively shooting with a rifle isn’t as easy to shoot accurately as some think that it is. The real immediate issue with gun control is home defense. If someone is breaking into your house, you have far less time to personally fight back against the intruder than it takes for the cops to get to your home.

At 400’ from his shooting platform to the crowd, it would of been quite problematic to return accurate fire at that distance with a handgun, even if they had been allowed.

Is it just me or is the news dead on this investigation? This is the only thing I’ve seen all day.

I guess the FBICIASWAMP has the momentum.

The shooting lasted barely 10 minutes. It took that much time just for the security guard to locate the possible room from which shooter was firing. So, No, there was not enough time to cut power to his room.

The cops on the ground were baffled because the shooter’s hotel was so far from the crowd, 4 football fields away. Also the mirror like exterior of the hotel was giving false indication of location of the gun flashes.

What the heck is a “bump stop”?

"Do the bump stop" is a dance popular at the clubs where our diverse FedGov employees hang out.

https://www.yahoo.com/amphtml/news/las-vegas-investigation-focuses-paddocks-finances-travel-sources-162657792.html

“As authorities search for a motive, Paddock’s finances have become a significant focal point — most notably, 200-plus casino or wire transactions by Paddock that were flagged for review by FinCEN, the U.S. government’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, which collects data to identify potential money laundering or covert terrorism financing. The FBI is also reviewing transactions by Danley that were flagged by FinCEN. According to a source familiar with the probe, the various transactions date back to 2014 and are being vigorously investigated. The sources said one transaction that has drawn significant attention is a $100,000 transfer to the Philippines by either Paddock or Danley prior to Sunday’s shooting. Danley was in the Philippines when Paddock opened fire on the crowd in Las Vegas.”

I don't believe those are calcs. All he had to know is the distance from the window to the venue. That's how he picked the hotel and his position.

We all learned that in school...remember the ladder against the building.

He was an experienced shooter. One of the gun dealers said he cleaned guns for him all the time.

He's not shooting blind. He's looking at the target and the two guns I saw had scopes.

And if they are calcs, he left them as a red herring.

Maximum kill???....well, damn, he had 22,000 targets. How could he miss!!

Show us the calcs.

I believe he picked his position during his previous trip...not while he was at the Mandalay.

He went down firing. The suicide is just to cover up some legal issues.

The position of the tanks were more a direct line with the broken window in the smaller room, while the window in the big suite was directly in line with the concert fair grounds.
I’m saying it’s possible the pause was he first shot at the tanks (from all the ear witnesses there that night) then began spraying the crowd the pause could have been switching windows??

idk

There’s that blocked stairway story again. What was blocking the way? We’ve yet to hear of anything. An ailing 64 year old couldn’t have blocked them so much that a 20 something year old security guard or several cops couldn’t get through. The door opens into the stairwell so the blockage would be on the stairwell side. What, after sprinting up 32 floors, they merely turned around, ran up another set of stairs, waited for the elevator and came back down on it? How much time did that waste?

My take also. That old ladder against the wall the we learned in school. And he WAS an experienced shooter.

Quite a few of his guns jammed according to police. He does not strike me as a man who would spend hours making sure his guns were in good shape.

he’s been a gambler for 25 years and now is feeling angry and under appreciated even though they give him free big suites, cruises, and hookers. Yes the casino even springs for his prostitutes.
I don’t think he’s mad at the casino for not recognizing his video poker prowess.

Agreed. Hand held weapons and bump fire does not sound like calculated aiming. It sound more like point shooting.
