Stephen Paddock, who killed at least 58 people and wounded hundreds more in Las Vegas on Sunday with high-powered rifles, was prescribed an anti-anxiety drug in June that can lead to aggressive behavior, the Las Vegas Review-Journal has learned...
Records from the Nevada Prescription Monitoring Program obtained Tuesday show Paddock was prescribed 50 10-milligram diazepam tablets by Henderson physician Dr. Steven Winkler on June 21. A woman who answered the phone at Winklers office would not make him available to answer questions and would neither confirm nor deny that Paddock was ever a patient.
Paddock purchased the drug its brand name is Valium without insurance at a Walgreens store in Reno on the same day it was prescribed. He was supposed to take one pill a day.
Diazepam is a sedative-hypnotic drug in the class of drugs known as benzodizepines, which studies have shown can trigger aggressive behavior. Chronic use or abuse of sedatives such as diazepam can also trigger psychotic experiences, according to drugabuse.com...
...A 2015 study published in World Psychiatry of 960 Finnish adults and teens convicted of homicide showed that their odds of killing were 45 percent higher during time periods when they were on benzodiazepines. A year earlier, the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry published a study titled, Benzodiazepine Use and Aggressive Behavior. The authors wrote: It appears that benzodiazepine use is moderately associated with subsequent aggressive behavior.
Dr. Michael First, a clinical psychiatry professor at Columbia University and expert on benzodiazepines, said the Finnish study speaks for itself. But he also told the Review-Journal on Tuesday that he believes the drugs would be more likely to fuel impulsive aggression than premeditated behavior...
...The Nevada state monitoring report also noted that Winkler prescribed 50 10-milligram tablets of diazepam to Paddock in 2016...

Diazepam is used in my prisons psych unit. Its a heavy hitter for a preliminary diagnosis.
Isn’t that what Hillary’s doctor kept in his hand for her?
Wonder out how it interacts if combined with booze
I’d love to see the break-down, per ‘mass murder’, that lists their recent (3yr?) Rx’s.
IMO, the clear majority of these incidents can be placed upon the Leftist utopians that “’freed’ the mentally ill from their cages”. It’s these Leftist group(s) that should be sued into oblivion for foisting the sick/deranged unto a hapless populace (thanks too to the gun-grabbers).
Who said he only took the prescribed? Saw a picture of him wearing a shirt that said WEED on it, this combo would not be good.
“”Apparently they were all through dealers. They were able to track every single one of them.””
Was he the original purchaser? I really don’t know I’m just asking questions. It would seem to me that had he been the original purchaser then yes flags might/should have shown up. I buy quite a few firearms and almost all my purchases come from private sellers mainly due to the type firearms I buy. Old Colt’s, Winchesters and some older Smith and Wesson’s. Also have a soft spot for old Browning Hi-Powers!
It sounds like he may have become anxious over other things (like planning a mass murder).
They found fertilizer in one of his vehicles... if he wasn’t using it for his cactuses or a grow house but was using it for a bomb plan, medicine can’t explain that sort of planning... wonder if anything else was found to indicate he had other than agricultural plans for it.
There is no flag if purchases are a single weapon and does not have to be reported.
He was the original purchaser.
Tammy Bruce, on Tucker Carlson’s show, the night of the LV tragedy, brought up the prescription drug problem...and, the MSM/Dem politicizing of everything combination....she begins at about the 22 sec mark.....

that is such a low dosage. Too bad it wasn’t higher because diazapam makes you lethargic not plan a mass murder for months.
Curisoisly he started buying all his guns in June too. Strange. Something is not right.
People who commit mass murder always do it for a reason. The reason may be completely unreasonable but they usually broadcast the reason.
sandy hook killer had a very extensive mental health issue this doesn’t appear to be the case with Paddock. He made it to 64 without incident and a low dose of Valium prescribed twice is hardly something that would cause a planned mass murder.
Maybe he sought the prescription because he needed the boosted confidence to commit his crime. He didn’t want to lose his nerve.
I question if the killings can be blamed directly on “drugs”, although they may have been a contributor which helped motivate Paddock. Too many questions in my mind about all the gun issues, the planning, the cameras, the hotel room location, etc. etc. I smell a BIG RAT somewhere! May be “tin hat” suspicions but something just doesn’t add up. Alas, we may never know.
Thanks for the confirmation. Like I said, I was listening to what I believe was an ATF rep.
That's probably true. However, can anybody be certain that a smooth talking lawyer...a John Edwards type scumbag...couldn't convince a jury that it did?
However, what I had in mind when I mentioned the doctor being sued was along the lines of a plaintiff accusing the doctor who prescribed it of having missed "obvious signs" that this guy was off his rocker and, having missed those signs,he failed to take steps to ensure the public's safety: that is,reporting him to the police, the FBI,having him committed to a psych hospital, etc.
*That* scenario, unlike, perhaps,a "the Valium did it" scenario,is *absolutely* possible...particularly when you have a jury made up of low IQ Rat voters.
The Colorado theater shooter?
