Michelle Obama tells women in Philly WH life was like 'being shot out of a cannon'

Updated: October 3, 2017 — 4:15 PM EDT

Michelle Obama confessed that her years in the White House were a whirlwind during an appearance before thousands of convention-goers at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women in Center City Tuesday, but the former first lady stayed largely away from politics and the current president.

“The last eight to ten years I felt like I was just running. It felt like being shot out of a cannon,” Michelle Obama said. “I was trying to develop initiatives and keep the girls’ lives normal. It was a constant feeling of not doing enough.”

In an hour-long discussion moderated by television writer Shonda Rimes, Obama dispensed career advice to the women at the conference, encouraging them to “make your voice heard, or speak up, even in the White House.” During her career as a lawyer, Obama said, “A lot of times at the table I would realize someone’s an imposter, like ‘You are a fool.'”

Currently, she’s working on completing a book which should be released “around this time next year.”

I bet Mama Robinson complains about her freeloading years in the WH and AF-1 too.

Give the poor woman a break.

She is simply not used to jobs where you actually have to show up and do actual real work

It’s not easy having a no show job when you are living in the White House

Yes, every night at the dinner table. And it takes one to know one.

With more personal servants than any FLOTUS (capitalized for the role not the occupant at that time) and feather pillows, decadent food, royal quarters, special planes, and innumerable perks, it must have been living hell.

The worst part was probably trying to explain why “her husband” (as she so often used the phrase) was a total anti-American idiot.

She did nothing to make the Whitehouse better.

Mama watched the kids. She had 26 slaves. Vacationed around the world on our dime.

Let the dog crap in the Whitehouse.

Started a garden in an area loaded with hard metals. Had to be totally demolished.

etc etc etc

Much of the pride I had in America vanished on the day she had pride in American for the first time.

‘WH life was like ‘being shot out of a cannon’’

It started with a bang but ended with a crash.

Man - every time we heard her voice, we FELT like we were being shot out of a cannon or SHOT BY ONE!

I hope she advised these women just how to go about landing a cushy job doing nothing for an exorbitant salary!!! That would be advice they could use...

" It was a constant feeling of not doing enough.”"

Well now we know why she packed 20 years of traveling and vacations into an 8 year period.

Even Mons Meg at Edinburgh Castle wouldn't have been big enough.
