The Las Vegas gunman’s exact location took police 72 minutes to reach after the first 911 call.
Police received the first 911 call regarding Sunday’s shooting at the country music concert at 10:08 p.m. local time, NBC News reported. By the time, Stephen Paddock was done shooting, at least 59 people were dead and 515 injured.
Officers began their search for the gunman following the call and responders discovered the gunfire was coming from a window of the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino after seeing muzzle flashes, dispatch tape showed, The Mercury News reported.
Police began searching the hotel’s 29th floor before determining the gunman was on the 32nd floor, NBC News reported.
Authorities, however, eventually located the shooter due to the large amount of smoke from the gunfire, The Washington Post reported.

Another consideration was the police were not sure the shooter was still in the room.
They had the hotel room covered, there was no more shooting so they methodically sealed the building, searched floor by floor to see if the shooter was trying to escape while simultaneously evacuating the people from their rooms to safety.
There was a better than even chance that the shooter had a bomb in his room set to detonate when they tried to enter the room, which could have taken out a large section of the building
It looks like he was shot at 10:24PM. That makes things start to look a bit better than the Fox News story does.

10:24 is when the police reported the shooting, likely the second time.
That is what I have come to believe. The cops must make the attempt to engage the shooter early.
The shooter came out the door of his suite, and shot someone in the hallway. There being no place to use for cover on the hallway, the normal officers had no choice but to hold in place and wait for swat.
Otherwise, I agree with you.
Also, the mass killer stopped shooting after he shot through the door. That is probably when he committed suicide.
So there was not as much urgency to blast the door down. The shooting had already stopped.

Is it possible that the shooting where he injured someone at the door was the first time armed personnel arrived, and not later when SWAT arrived.
If the shooter killed himself or otherwise stopped shooting after being threatened by the two police and the hotel security guard, then they did their job well enough.
Who cares if he ate his gun or even watched the news of his “work” until SWAT was about to come in?

You should listen to the rebroadcast the police radio on YouTube there’s three of them one that goes for about 20 minutes one goes for about 72 minutes.
I listen to it yesterday morning and then I listen to the longer one yesterday afternoon they put together a timeline of exact incidence people things that are going on and always remember they don’t know what they have when you hear this you have a better idea listening to it what’s going on
He wouldnt baricad the door, he would know it would be blown out. He would create barricades in the room to shield him from explosion and gunfire. He would have armor to survive longer. He would have a gas mask to,keep fighting longer.
And if serious he would not take himself out without taking a bunch with him. But again i cant claim to understand the mind of a person like this.

It took time to get the dynamic/explosive entry team together, clear the nearby rooms/floors and blow the door.

Yes, why didn’t he keep shooting?
He went through the trouble to haul his arsenal up there, but didn’t really use much.
He could have doubled his kill, especially since he knew that there were only 1-3 lightly armed men at his door.

I believe the door was under surveillance from the time the guard arrived there, and there was no way to escape the floor.

Yes, I don’t fault them for that. If he’d continued shooting (with over 20,000 persons as targets), then despite the risk I do think lightly armed police and guards should have tried to stop him. He didn’t, though. After one guard had already been wounded, the mere possibility that he was reloading wasn’t enough to justify trying to get him before the SWAT team arrived.
