The shooter came out the door of his suite, and shot someone in the hallway. There being no place to use for cover on the hallway, the normal officers had no choice but to hold in place and wait for swat.

Pretty close, but he did not come out of the suite. He shot through the door. He had a camera watching the hallway. The door was at the end of a hall, so bullets going out, through the door, went the length of the hall. A pretty good kill zone.

Otherwise, I agree with you.

Also, the mass killer stopped shooting after he shot through the door. That is probably when he committed suicide.

So there was not as much urgency to blast the door down. The shooting had already stopped.

Thanks marktwain. I was listening to the police scanner last night, and they described the guy shooting someone in the hallway. It seemed to infer he stuck his head out, but I may have misinterpreted it.
