President Trump Ignores Scowling San Juan Mayor at Puerto Rico Relief Meeting

Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Irma and then Hurricane Maria a category 5 monster hurricane two weeks later.

Most of the leadership in Puerto Rico praised and thanked the government for the much needed aid.

But the far left San Juan Mayor Caren Yuliz Cruz Soto decided on Friday the best way to help those suffering was to go out on all of the liberal mainstream news outlets and trash President Trump.

San Juan Mayor: “I’m mad as hell because my people’s lives are at stake… We are dying, and you (Trump) are killing us with inefficiency”

The San Juan mayor accused FEMA and President Trump of offering her no help. She said this in front of a pallet of US aid.

On Saturday FOX News contributor Geraldo Rivera interviewed Mayor Cruz and then tweeted this.

Ouch!

#SanJuanMayor says residents are “dying,” & somehow @realDonaldTrump is to blame. I’m here. Who is dying? Why? Where? Let me help save them.

— Geraldo Rivera (@GeraldoRivera) September 30, 2017

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz is a staunch Democrat who supported Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.

On Tuesday President Trump visited Puerto Rico to observe the hurricane damage and relief updates.

The far left San Juan Mayor is in the room scowling at the US president.

She looks annoyed and did not look at him.

President Trump shook Mayor Cruz’s hand when he entered the meeting.

….and we have the awkward handshake between Trump and San Juan Mayor Cruz … he didn’t address her in his remarks https://t.co/uZ5UBAZ0QV

How long before she’s back in the news whining like Hillary’s done, about how uncomfortable President made her feel, or some other such lie? She’s a Hillary clone. Always has to be a victim.

I lived in PR for several years long ago on transfer and lived in a middle class community with wife and children. We were the only Anglos in the area. We enjoyed our time. PR has a large middle class which gives it more stability than most Hispanic countries. They had a referendum while we were there and less than 1% wanted independence. Almost all wanted to maintain the current territorial arrangement. After we left it seems the island became more corrupt and turned toward the left. I think it is ripe for a complete change. By going in to rebuild and provide incentives to bring in more business it could become a pocket of Republicanism. I know folks on FR will crucify me for saying that, but the people I met and knew then had deep views which were much like ours. They needed like-minded leaders to develop those right sided ideas. To do what I suggest would probably need a short period of martial law to begin the process.

Trump flipped her a tube of Vagasil before the meeting and told her to deal with it.

Far as I’m concerned, Trump should have walked in, declared martial law, thrown Cruz and the local Teamsters president in jail, told the rest of the Teamsters they have 24 hours to clear the docks and deliver those containers to their indicated destinations.

"Cut off any aid destined for San Juan. "

From what I understand, she's hasn't allowed anything to be delivered. I heard a recording from a police officer, pleading for help, specifically saying not to believe the Mayor's lies, because she wasn't letting any supplies be delivered.

Why do we continually choke on gnats and swallow camels when it comes to what “President Trump says”? He could recite the Lord’s Prayer and the Democrats, left, media, etc., would spend a week condemning it.

Do you know the difference in the death count of Katrina from the death count in PR? THAT number is what the president was referencing.

Katrina = 1833 lost

Puerto Rico = 16

The Left can have a field day over all things Trump all day long.

The FACT is one number is catastrophically higher than the other.

I’m sure they can build buildings of concrete or concrete block, as long as they don’t use a corrugated sheet steel roof. It’s not as if hurricanes are complete unknowns. They should be able to build concrete tilt-up buildings without any big stress. And no, not 3 days in advance of a storm. They just can’t build them like the temperature will always be 90 degrees with 8 mph winds like it is 90% of the time in PR.

My point is they failed even a tentative step #1 for planning. It’s also possible that they know that anything of value placed strategically in a warehouse would be stolen. But they did utterly flaming zero to prepare, nothing.

That is totally the truth. They had one good governor (GOP) a few years ago, and everybody loved him because they finally had somebody thinking about a non-dependent economy. Things took off - and then he was defeated by the municipal unions and their SEIU bucks.

The reason most Puerto Ricans have done well in NYC (now they all live in the burbs and have usually married Irish-American women) is that, aside from the welfare class, they basically had the same principles we did. Actually, until the arrival of Marxism in the late 19th, early 20th century, all of Latin America shared the same ideals.

Puerto Ricans are very entrepreneurial and would love to be set free from idiots like the Marxist mayor. I think Trump has got to take this moment to develop Puerto Rico, which could be a great place for the US - not only fantastic beaches, which of course they have not maintained, and great food and wonderful little salsa dance bars where you can go and watch 60+ folks doing some of the most beautiful dancing I’ve seen - but possibly an offshore tax refuge that would actually funnel it back to the US.

PR got a lot of tax breaks until they had all these nutties over Vieques and kicked the US military out. They’ve got to rethink this.

One of the reasons that Ponce de Leon’s house is there is that even in the 16th century, the Spanish knew that PR was the defensive gateway to the Caribbean. The Castillo de San Felipe was used by the US during WWII, as I am sure you know!

This ugly-a$$ lezz says that Trump is killing them. Obviously this is to get the media to create a “Katrina” moment for Trump. Doesn’t seem to be working, except among the hard left.

Where are they going to find them? We certainly have none to spare.

I think I heard on FoxNews on Sunday that this mayor had been missing the meetings about hurricane recovery.””

A fellow PR Mayor said he had NOT seen her at ANY of the FEMA meetings.

Also— I want to know who is providing her with a new nasty anti-Trump T-shirt every day? No power—no water—no food-—

But she can come up with newly printed anti-Trump T-shirts every day for the photo ops???

She needs Public Relations lessons from Ray Nagin-—who claimed “We couldn’t use the school buses to evacuate people BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT AIR CONDITIONED!

Funny how kids ride in the 2 times a day for 9 months a year without air conditioning, but people who needed to get evacuated before they drowned couldn’t use those buses. It also would have saved those many buses from getting ruined by being abandoned in the rising floodwaters.

She needs to be recalled by the populace.
