Country music star John Rich handed over his own firearm to a police officer who used it to defend civilians in a bar during the Las Vegas strip massacre.
Rich, who is the star of Big & Rich, explained how it all went down on Fox News.
I had an off-duty police officer, it was a Minneapolis police officer, off-duty, was in my bar hanging out. He came up to me and showed me his badge, and he says, Im officer I forget his last name and Im [a police] officer and Im not armed for the first time ever. I cant believe it. Are you armed? I said yes I am armed. I had my concealed carry. He asked, can I have your firearm so I can hold point on this door? So I handed over my firearm to him, everybody got behind him and for two hours he held point on that door without flinching, Rich said during his appearance on Fox News.
This is such an incredible story. Of course Rich, a huge pro-America guy, had a gun and gave it to the police. I would be surprised if he didnt have a gun. Good for him. Is there any genre of music more likely to have armed singers than country music? Didnt think so.
Texas has a "51% rule" which states if the business makes more than 51% of their profit from alcohol consumed on the premises, then no guns are allowed, licensed or not.
These festivals have bars scattered through out, think of a circus tent.
In Colorado, a CCW licensee can carry and drink in a bar. We just cant be drunk.
I have yet to hear of an incident.
Not a big ESPN fan, but in their defense "Coming to Your City" is the Saturday morning opening song for College Gameday, complete with Big & Rich, Cowboy Troy, Travis McCoy, and Lzzy Hale. They also play clips of the song throughout the broadcast all morning.
He owns the bar. He wasn’t there drinking and partying.
You can be armed in a bar in SC as long as you do not drink alcohol.
As for suppressive fire..
1. Are you sure they would be aiming at the correct window?
2. People above and below that floor probably walked to their windows to see what was going on. Friendly fire casualties?
3. If they are not shooting at the right target, would he even notice suppressive fire?
Not to mention the affect gravity would have on any shots being attepted at a window hundreds of yards away and 32 stories up in the air. As Obiwan said "It's over, I have the high ground"
I have wondered, watching the coverage, why police didn’t lay down suppressive fire on those windows.
If he had continued firing though, it becomes an option
You may have a tinfoil hat but I guess I do too. And I’m wondering how long before some nut sees this story, get a badge, and get himself a gun he can use to rob or whatever.
It's against the law to carry in a bar. But, as a LEO once told me, "it's concealed!" (How does anyone know?) That said, I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!
Probably not. Would also question area of lending firearm to someone, even a cop. No one is going to charge him, nor should they.
anitfa Obama/soros want to induce useful idiots and keep their hands clean.
Each state has it’s own gun laws. Some are Federal and can’t be got around, like no carry on Military bases, court houses, gov’t property. Or Bars or places like restaurants who serve booze. No one can take a weapon to a stadium or a casino legally, we have casinos in Tunica, MS and no one carries there but security. John Rich having one is rare had to have special permission I’d bet, and under normal circumstances he’d never have admitted to having it on him.
It’s that way in Tennessee, if a business post a no gun sign you can’t carry there. Most people ignore those for malls, doctor offices places like that. You go for med test you leave it home if they don’t have lockers. Loss of Permit and fine are to high to risk. I CCW and you’d never know it. I’ve a purse for places I’m not suppose to carry, mostly just wear it on my hip, with a decorative jean vest cover up. I live 30 miles from Memphis #3 in murders, and all my docs are there, none for specialties or seniors in my little berg.
Would you have had them shooting pistols up at the hotel full of people?
made for tv drama heroes already . .
Just in case a mass shooting breaks out?
“Las Vegas cops are not in the business of ham-handed military assaults on buildings housing thousand of paying tourists that are visiting their city.”
Boris Yeltsin tactics, bring in the howitzers and start shelling the structure.
Exactly! There’s many nutcases out there. I wouldn’t hand over my firearm to anybody. LE included.
Credentials can be faked, as we’ve seen countless times over the years. While I understand the extreme circumstances these people were in, I would rather be the one armed.
