As virtually everyone has noted from the abundant video footage of the incident, it certainly sounds as if the shooter used either fully-automatic weapons or semi-automatic weapons modified (through, for example, a bump fire stock) to closely simulate automatic fire. Moreover, the police are reporting that he had “more than 10 rifles.” He apparently rented his corner room for days and may have even set up cameras to detect when police were approaching. That’s all strange enough, but it’s even more unusual when you consider that his own family apparently didn’t know that he maintained a stockpile of guns.

Put all this together, and the shooting is flat-out bizarre. It’s significantly different from virtually any other mass shooting in U.S. history. If the weapons were fully automatic, then he likely would have spent immense sums of money to obtain them legally, jumping through extensive legal hoops.

So, a person who’s “not a gun guy” has either expended untold thousands of dollars to legally purchase fully-automatic weapons, somehow found them on the black market, or purchased and substantially modified multiple semi-automatic weapons — and did so with enough competence to create a sustained rate of fire. This same person also spent substantial sums purchasing just the right hotel room to maximize casualties.

Given the firepower and the packed mass of people, it’s easy to see how the casualty count was so high, even firing from an extreme range (by the standards of mass shootings.) This was the University of Texas tower attack on steroids, conducted out of nowhere, with meticulous planning and at great expense, from a person who doesn’t seem to fit any normal profile of a mass shooter. There is much we have yet to learn, but for now, this is one of the most chilling and mysterious events I’ve ever seen.

Was his mother from a wealthy family? Otherwise, how did a bank robber’s family end up owning apartment buildings?

I know one thing: If this guy was a Republican or supported Trump in any way we would definately know about it by now.
But sadly the Dems and the media will use it for their agenda.
It isn’t strange that his family claim they knew nothing.
It is the easiest way to keep the story straight.
Soon they will be saying all the Las Vegas concert-goers were "crisis actors" who walked around in circles and that Jason Aldean was an active participant in the ruse.
However he did it, I strongly suspect that he was a leftist who was strongly influenced by the constant diatribe on the left—America is bad, all whites are racist, etc. With the constant barrage of propaganda, the question is not so much why this guy flipped in a big way, but why there are not more incidents like this. After all, if someone believes that everyone around him is evil and does not deserve to live, isn’t deciding to permanently remove the problem a logical choice?
I was being reported that this guy had little to no contact with his family for quite a few years.
That is sad, but not uncommon. It also explains why they are shocked at what he has done.
The media seems fixated on his Dad. That is a waste of time.
For a guy to show up a week ago out of the clear blue is ... well .... improbable.
IF the stage is a common area to host concerts, the location of the room was planned.
It didn't HAVE to be a C&W concert ... ANY ol' gathering of thousands will do ..... for the muzzie cells obozo allowed in here unvetted.
In the clamor for the scoop the press inundates and confuses. The police are pressured to make statements and hold press conferences and a host of individuals are sought out for opinions that fog the coverage. Like a pride of starving lions feasting on a fresh meat the press is whoring for information, mucking up public perspective, making big money, letting other news go unnoticed.
Let the investigators do their work, thoroughly, professionally, and without distraction.

AP is reporting that two of the weapons were illegally modified to FA.

One thing I’m thinking is this: people who call for gun control are hypocrites if they oppose the Border Wall at the same time.
We can’t keep guns out of peoples’ hands if they can be smuggled across the border.
The media would lie and claim he is, regardless.
