If you listen to LVPD dispatch radio. They had his room and location in 15 to 17 minutes. Then when they approached, shooter stopped shooting outside and defended his hotel inside exposure. Shot a security guard in hallway. It may have been close to an an hour until the swat took him down. But he had stopped shooting outside after 25 to 17 minutes.
The fire alarm thing was asked during the latest news conference. The guy answering questions says he wasn't aware of any kind of fire alarm giving the shooter's position away. So that seems discounted.
I see no timelines that show "shooter down" within one hour. All timelines seem to support what DailyMail insists, that it was 72 minutes.
The shooting stopped at about 10-11 minutes after it started. It could be that is when the security guard was shot through the door? Maybe, perhaps, that is when Paddock offed himself. That would make sense if he thought his killing by police was imminent. It seems he still had plenty of ammunition and could have continued on his spree if he wanted.
Figuring the timeline with what we have is really tough,I’m just not that good. I need more info.

A few photos have been thrown up. the one being currently used for Paddock was originally named as being of Geary Danley. I'd prefer a DL pic or Pilot license pic or a passport photo pic myself.
The broadcast recording stops at 56:30 into the recording, and they hadn't approached the room on the 32nd floor by that time. I am guessing 72 minutes is accurate, as that would have been just 20 minutes later than the last report holding at the 31st floor (listen beginning at 51:00 mark for about a minute, last time you hear of the team). It seems they went "dark" maybe just before the strike force when onto floor 32?
Anyway, the shooting stopped WAY before they found Paddock in his room dead. It wouldn't make sense that he just sat in his room waiting without firing further. He must have been dead at that time. We don't know where and when the security officer was shot in the leg, but that may have been what stopped the attack, and maybe that is when Paddock initiated his dirt nap.
From the witness interview, mystery couple woman was yelling at one woman in particular, next or near to the witness, telling her she was going to die. Then when ppl told her to move on, stop harassing the woman, she directed it as all of you are going to die. This caused a ruckus, enough that she was 'escorted out' - not sure if it would have been stage security or event security but there was allegedly more than one witness to the comments. I expect some cell phone video to come out but, bear in mind, that the front crowd was targeted first.
Last night in the middle of it all you were both right about the shooter knocking out the windows. Good thinking.

So, probably that means that the shooter saw the security person coming from the cameras he positioned, stopped his attack on the crowd, waited until he approached his door and when he saw (by camera) that the security person was in front of the door he shot at him.
Then, Paddock figured he had moments before his room would be rushed, so he killed himself as planned. Little did he know he had another 50 minutes + to continue his carnage.
The security person is a hero for sure.
