First lady Melania Trump fired back Friday at a Massachusetts elementary school librarian who rejected her donation of Dr. Seuss books, claiming their illustrations are examples of racist propaganda.
Stephanie Grisham, director of communications for the first lady's office, said in a statement to Fox News that the response was "unfortunate," and Mrs. Trump wanted to use her platform "to help as many children as she can."
"She has demonstrated this in both actions and words since her husband took office, and sending books to children across the country is but one example," she said. "To turn the gesture of sending young students some books into something divisive is unfortunate, but the First Lady remains committed to her efforts on behalf of children everywhere."
To celebrate National Read a Book Day, the first lady had sent out a collection of 10 Dr. Seuss books to one school in each state across the nation. The titles included: "The Cat in the Hat"; "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish"; "Wacky Wednesday"; "Green Eggs and Ham"; and "Oh, the Places Youll Go!"

Their own American Library Association’s statement:
“Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Typically held during the last week of September, it highlights the value of free and open access to information. Banned Books Week brings together the entire book community librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.
To continue to raise awareness about the harms of censorship and the freedom to read, the ALA Office for Intellectual Freedom (OIF) publishes an annual list of the Top Ten Most Challenged Books, using information from public challenges reported in the media, as well as censorship reports submitted to the office through its challenge reporting form.
Find out which books made the Top Ten Most Challenged Books of 2016 and explore Top Ten talking points, infographics and social media art on the Top Ten resource page. View the 2017 State of Americas Library Report for more information on censorship, library trends and research.”

Thanks, although it doesn’t look much like chastisement, but rather a CYA by her superiors, while they give her a nudge/nudge/wink/wink approval.
Thanks for link.

Here is her pic.

No surprise.
Comments were eventually disabled on that website, and most were deleted for not meeting “standards”.
I think I understand much more now that I’ve seen her photo.
The Liberian in question

The Librarian in question...
The Rush books have been rejected by the librarian at my grandson’s Durham NC school
You know Liberals can’t read let alone understand the pictures...
A FLOTUS befitting of the times.
Ms. Singham: “Fired back?” It sounded like the First Lady’s office response was quite polite.
Nice spin, once again, from the MSM. /s
What wasn’t polite was that idiot librarian rejecting a gift for the children of the school.
Did the librarian had the authority to do this; just wondering if the principal or adminstrators had anything to say about this slap in the face to the First Lady.
Amazing, a librarian who burns books.
Ray Bradbury would approve.
I am half Czechoslovakian and I would love that. LOL!
It won't happen, but Mrs. Trump, we are on your side! :)
My daughter worked a high school job at a library and loved it. She is now the Children’s department Lead at a Barnes and Noble. Barely squeaking buy in retail but absolutely loves introducing kids to the adventure of reading.
Sadly, the degree requirements to be a librarian are so insane she doesn’t feel she can justify the years required, nor the cost.
Plus she’s very conservative and probably won’t survive the hardcore lefty indoctrination process.
She set a goal in January to sell 100 copies of her favorite children’s book. It’s called Peter and the Starcatcher’s. (sort of a prequel to Peter Pan) Two weeks ago, she sold her 200th copy for the year.
I sent an email to the author (Dave Barry) and asked him to
Congratulate her. She was so excited to get a personal letter from her favorite author.
I read “The Butter Battle Book” in my youth and thought it was about nuclear war.
OMG, is that her? Holy cow. What is she protesting? Is there some huge movement to ban books where she lives?
She seems completely unhinged.
btw, if TLC’s “What Not to Wear” were still on, I would nominate her, out of sympathy.
