Here's how Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals handled national anthem
San Diego Union Tribune ^ | 9/25/17 | Abby Hamblin

Owner Jerry Jones joined his team in taking a knee. The Cowboys then stood up and linked arms for the national anthem.

The Dallas Cowboys all took knees on the field and the Arizona Cardinals linked arms across from them before their Monday Night Football game, a move that followed a closely-watched Sunday in which NFL teams and their owners rebuked President Donald Trump’s criticism of athletes protesting during the national anthem.

Not a solution at all. Read your American history and all the blood that was spilled so these twirps could disrespect their flag and country.

Boycott ‘em!

When you kneel down with them it is not sitting on the fence.

Well, it’s better that *kneeling* wasn’t during the anthem.

But, this “arm link” is still a sign of preferring “unity” (i.e., football union) over country. Basically it means we WON’T put our hand over heart. (Yes, I know, they are already disrespectful at anthems just standing there rather than actually hand over heart.)

I did see some old Cardinals trying to put hand on heart, but no players.

It’s better, but still bitter, always touching on Trump and blackness. Enough with the hand-holding shoulder-touching “I condone your anti-American beliefs” crap.

Yes. And next you have to ask who started BLM!

You don't get to define the terms.

You know what, yes I do.

“Protest and respecting the anthem do not need to be mutually exclusive.”

No,but protest does NOT belong at a football game.

I did see some old Cardinals trying to put hand on heart, but no players.

I noticed that too. The "old Cardinals" who put their hand on their hearts were the head coach, Bruce Arians, and another coach who I don't recognize.

No Cardinal player did: not even Larry Fitzgerald.

Disappointing, but not surprising. This linking-arms nonsense is anti-Trump. They're going to soon reap what they sow.

Thant you! I have been attacked for my view, like yours, and feel that FR has some lack of understanding what being conservative is all about. I was just upholding Constitution and Jones, owner of Cowboys, way of handling a difficult situation....I was bombarded w misunderstandings!

Hey, fake conservative! On another thread, I asked you to post -- verbatim -- the First Amendment, since you seem to believe that employees of a private company have the Constitutional right to spit on America at their place of employment without getting fired. You chickened out and didn't respond to me.

Wanna try again?

"Never served in the military, did you? If you had, it wouldn't seem so stupid, civilian."

That's certainly right. Hundreds of times in platoon formation at attention saluting the flag during the Anthem afforded many moments to think about the history and my older relatives and friends who served.

Reminds me. I've been meaning for years to call my second cousin (door gunner in Nam) that I enlisted to be a 12B in the Guard at the age of 31 to follow him, my dad, my uncles and the rest of 'em. Never was quite mobilized (plenty of shots, alerts, briefings, etc.), but I was ready in a Superior Unit for 6 years (and a seventh year in a lax combat heavy unit with the REMFs). ...finally decided to take the honorable discharge and try to earn more money (not many good, steady jobs for enlisted combat type guardsmen back then).

I didn't give my life, but I did my duty and put up with a lot of crap from civilians for it (pushed out of a university English program by an instructor who was a state N.O.W. president because of the obvious haircut and bearing, family difficulties that started while I was in the field and at schools, already mentioned employers, etc.).
