President Trump said that a primary win by Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore will open the seat for a Democratic win during a radio appearance Monday.
Trump, who traveled to Alabama Friday to stump for Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.), told the syndicated "Roy & Bubba" radio show based out of Birmingham, Alabama that Democrats will pour millions of dollars into the election if their candidate goes up against Moore.
"Luther Strange is going to be a great Senator. He loves Alabama, he loves the states and he loves the country. He will absolutely win against the Democrat,” Trump said, according to Alabama.com.
“Ray will have a hard time. If Luther wins, the Democrats will hardly fight. If Ray wins (Democrats) will pour in $30 million."
Trump also initially called Moore by the wrong name during the interview, referring to him as “Ray Moore.”
When host Rick Burgess pointed out that Moore’s name is Roy, Trump responded that it’s “not a good sign" if the president doesn’t know his name.
"I don't know that much about Roy Moore. Roy Moore is going to have a very hard time getting elected against the Democrat,” Trump said. “Against Luther they won't even fight."

That is 100% right. Moore needs to pick his battles and they should be in support of President Trump’s agenda & campaign promises.
After election Moore should be cautious of media in search of sound bites to hang around his neck & damage POTUS, keep it short, sweet and to the point, turn the do you still beat your wife questions back into a safer area. Trump’s cabinet members, for the most part, have excelled at that regard.
Moore will cakewalk the primary and the General, just like Trump did....
Trump has to be rope a doping... he has to know Moore will be a far more reliable ally than any McConnell shill ever will be,

This race was Moore’s to lose from day one, anyone who’s even got the most basic understanding of Alabama politics could have told you this.
Low end Moore wind by 5-8 points, more realistically by 10+... Trumps involvement for Strange might keep this toward the lower end, but no way in hell Strange was EVER winning this one.

No POTUS is right in the center. I love my commander & chief, pearl clutchers less so. Politics is a messy business and we need to let it play out, not be a prophesier of doom. I listened to the debate and was impressed with Roy Moore’s message, his tenacity and his self control.
The title of the article is very misleading. Nowhere in the article is Trump actually quoted as saying the dems will win the seat if Moore wins the primary. What he actually says is “I don’t know that much about Roy Moore. Roy Moore is going to have a very hard time getting elected against the Democrat.” Trump is not saying Moore will lose, only that he will have a hard time getting elected against the Democrat. Fake news.
If I had to guess, I’d bet that Trump made a deal with McConnell — “I will back Strange. I will push hard for him. Throughout the campaign. I will give it my best effort. And you will owe me for that. And if Strange loses, and if Moore makes it to the Senate, you will bow before me and run the Senate as I wish. Because the people want what I’m selling— even when I don’t sell it.”
Moore will win the General with one hand tied behind his back... He has NOTHING to fear from a bad sound bite... Those claiming this sort of crap know nothing about Moore or Alabama IMHO.
Moore is to Alabama 10 times what Trump was to the nation, he won’t be beat, and the press can try all they want to destroy him, but it won’t happen.
Moore has built a more reliable, and motivated base taking on the swamp than just about ANYONE in politics today... He’s been removed from office at least twice for DOING THE RIGHT THING, and always comes back stronger.....
Outside money won’t cause Moore to lose, biased reporting won’t cause Moore to lose.... Moore will TROUNCE the democratic opponent... and don’t kid yourself, the minute Moore has won the nomination, Trump will campaign full tilt for him....
Moore is the next Senator from Alabama... anyone telling you any calculus that can offer anything otherwise, is either woefully ignorant and uninformed, or flat out lying to you.
Trump plays this exactly right.
You have a SITTING senator who voted right on Ocare repeal.
You must reward that.
He is in office til January.
You must consider that—several more key votes.
And you have a contender who will vote with you regardless.
Thus is a no-brainer.
I think Trump is in a position to have a better read on what someone will do once in office. We watch debates from the outside removed from the real action.
I've got to agree with you there but I really don't know to much about Strange though other then if he is supported by Trump he can't be to bad.
Not so confident Trump is sure how Moore will vote. Too clever by halves.
I don’t know, I understand why McConnell and the GOPe would want to shut Moore down.... they fear losing the party... and a Moore win would encourage more primary challenges, and McConnell’s position... but the reality is, lots of GOPe/RINO’s are going to face primary challenges... particularly in solid red states.. with our without a Moore win.
The fact that you promised things for 8 years, but then when you have everything you should need to do it, you didn’t, that’s all that needs to be known.
I assume Trump made some deal with McConnell, because him shilling for Strange makes no sense, other than, being party loyal... Moore is far more likely to help MAGA agenda happen than any McConnell shill.
The GOPe continue to stupidly think THEY won last November, and the reality is YOU DIDN’T... TRUMP WON... You won’t get on board the Trump Train, then you will get rolled over..... Look for a LOT of folks to wind up primaried.... lots of folks.. lots of retirements fearing they might wind up primaried as well....
I had a similar thought that this President wants one thing and that’s the coveted tax reform, which will no doubt include Ivanka’s signature ‘child care credit’ for her Manhattan feminazi buddies.
That’s the deal with the uniparty - tax relief for his buddies who play on his golf courses, and child care credits/deductions for her buddies who’s kids go to the 92nd Street Y.
This is pure political calculation on Trump’s part.
Luther Strange is an old school transactional politician. It’s all about what you have done for him lately. He is honest, so once he is bought, he stays bought. Trumps words and support make it harder for him to not stay bought if he wins
Strange is not the kind of guy you want to make an enemy of, especially if he has been on your team, because he will make life hard for you.
Moore, in the other hand is an ideologue who will have a hard going against his ideology and his like minded base. That ideology is in line with the Trump agenda
Everyone knows Moore will win and this is just a Hail Mary on Trumps part.

Trumps endorsement will have value and he will help Moore in the general when Moore wins the primary, which Moore will do
