Former Democratic Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) tweeted that she hopes all NFL players kneel during the national anthem on Sunday in response to President Trump's remarks attacking Colin Kaepernick.
Edwards, who left Congress earlier this year, called Trump a "white supremacist who squats in our White House" in her tweet.
Trump suggested at a rally Friday night for Alabama Senate candidate Luther Strange (R) that NFL players like Kaepernick who kneel during the national anthem should be fired and fans should walk out.
"Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now,'" Trump said, adding, "'He is fired.'"
"When people like yourselves turn on television and you see those people taking the knee when they are playing our great national anthem – the only thing you could do better is if you see it, even if it's one player, leave the stadium," Trump added Friday. "I guarantee things will stop."
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell responded to Trump's remarks on Saturday, calling them "divisive" and saying they show a "lack of respect" for the league and its players.
“Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities," Goodell said.

Go for it. Last year I only watched the Steelers until the Super Bowl. This year I am not watching NFL at all.

How unbelievably disrespectful. "squats"? He is the duly elected President of the United States and deserves to live there. And he is no supremacist.
If you want to talk about "squatting," sweetheart, I would suggest you refer to our former president, who was likely not even a natural-born citizen. (speaking to the Dem person, not you, mandaladon, :) )
She is not helping Dems get more votes but instead turning them away. She is one bitter, anti-American woman.

The National Hockey League can generally avoid this sort of problem very easily. For one thing, most of its players aren't even American. Secondly, hockey is very much an international sport with players from all over the world -- so they've all been conditioned to leave their politics at home from playing in international tournaments as kids.

My father was a huge sports fan and held season tickets for the Chicago Bears. But he was also a very patriotic American. I think he would be disgusted by this display of, hmmm....how to put this... a juvenile temper tantrum by millionaires who think they are more important than they really are.

Vote with your dollars people, and lets protest this and end it one way or another. While I enjoyed sports I can walk away over this.
Also, if the flag is not honored at any sporting events then aircraft flyovers should also end. Taxpayer funded flyovers are a waste of money for these communists anyway.
Maybe the answer is to revive The American Football League and let’s see what the team owners think about the alienation of the vast majority of patriotic football fans...

Most unfortunate that corporations own all the boxes and, with their insane liberal attitudes, won’t unload their boxes. If the seats and boxes were full of regular fans, the stadiums would be emptying out pretty quickly. You’d have a few white Dems and blacks. Ticket prices would drop by 50% or more to get people back.
Goodell’s statement is SO offensive to me...just eff him and NFL.
