President Donald Trump criticized NFL players who lodge protests during the pregame national anthem, saying Friday night that he wished those players would be released and encouraging fans who are offended to walk out of stadiums.
Speaking at a political rally in Huntsville, Alabama, Trump said: "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now. Out. He's fired! He's fired!"
Trump said the protests, which became public last year when then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled for a preseason national anthem, are "hurting the game."
Trump didn't mention Kaepernick or any other NFL player specifically during the speech. The QB opted out of his contract with the 49ers during the offseason and has not been signed by a new team since.
"The only thing you could do better," Trump said, "is if you see it, even if it's just one player, leave the stadium. I guarantee things will stop. Things will stop. Just pick up and leave. Pick up and leave. Not the same game anymore, anyway."
Trump went on to say referees are "ruining the game" by calling 15-yard penalties for "beautiful" tackles. He also said that NFL ratings are down "massively, massively" because people prefer watching him. NFL ratings dropped eight percent in 2016 compared to 2015.
An NFL spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment on what Trump said.
All you hear from the crooked media is Trump said ‘get that son of b*tch off the field right now! Out! He’s fired! He’s fired! They leave out the words before that “Wouldn’t you love to see one of the NFL owners, when someone disrespects our flag, to say”. Sounds a lot different with these words preceding it put in. Then again this is what you will get from the democrat crooked media.

Looking at it another way, he may have saved them by forcing them to confront an issue that has its ratings in a nose dive - nah, they won't fine players for all on field antics.
I doubt it. The number of people who normally wouldn’t watch the NFL is probably 34% :^)

It was tongue in cheek. But they won't get it or even if they do, take it that way. You are correct he should have left it out. He needs to be a bit more calculating as a politician. Politicians can be too much politicians, but it is a craft and profession with its tricks of the trade just the same.

F*** Roger Goodell, the PC poster child for “The Peter Principle”, a fat, overweight, preening empty suit of a corporate lawyer skunk who is EASILY the most overpaid person in America.
After years of only watching the Superbowl, I will decline to do even that again.
FYI - I watched and actually rooted for the Patriots and Brady this past January (whom I had disliked before) BECAUSE of Brady, Belichik and Kraft’s unapologetic friendship with the President.
If the Patriots win again this year, I hope Brady, having played his last game, wears his MAGA hat while acccepting the trophy from that SCUMBAG COMMISSIONER.
Jerry Jones ought to be the Commissioner of Football. He’s the only owner I know of who set his players straight - if you don’t stand for the anthem, you don’t play!

Sounds like a reasonable rule to me.
The league seems to be at least superficially patriotic, or they wouldn't HAVE the national anthem.
NFL: Why the double standard? If you don't care about patriotism, stop pretending and drop the anthem altogether. If you DO care, make it an enforced standard for your employees!
