The San Francisco 49ers Thursday night game against the Los Angeles Rams kicked off in front of a nearly empty stadium.
Los Angeles Times reporter Lindsey Thiry tweeted a photo at the time of kickoff, which showed thousands of open seats. In fact, most sections in the photo have more empty seats than fans.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell reported that 63,500 tickets had been sold for the game, but of course, simply selling a ticket doesn’t mean the buyer will actually show up to the game.
It’s hard to believe there are more than 30,000 people in the stadium, judging from the photos.

This is not a great look for the NFL. TV ratings are already on the decline, and now people aren’t even going to the games.
The NFL is the crown jewel of American sports. It can’t be overstated how awful the optics of an empty stadium for a primetime game is.

Trust me, especially before she was married, it wasn’t the nose most men were interested in.
She was VERY popular at the Cop Shop.... sort of a Right of Passage for young rookie patrolmen to celebrate their getting off their one year probation.
I was a long time fan but after what I have seen the last two years, NFL is dead to me! And on a bright note, I am finding that this is to my benefit. :-)
It’s not just Kapernick - Tickets are too expensive for an average American family to attend, refreshment prices are ridiculous, the grossly overpaid athletes, and on and on.
The era of the dominance of professional football is over. I hope college football is taking notes. We need a return to sanity.

Simple. Have your team members stand and honor the Pledge of Allegiance and our flag before or at the halftime of the game. In other words, say the Pledge of Allegiance and stand up for America.
The players need to remember that they wouldn’t even be playing football if this were not America. They need to honor that privilege.

In Pittsburgh, 96% of all seat are owned by individuals with a waiting list that is 10 of thousands long.
I had season tix for almost 40 years and rarely missed a game. Bought my first set in 1966 at Pitt stadium for my wife and me, and for seven games the total cost was $42 {$21 for each of us, for those in Rio Linda, that was $3/game}.
If the players and goodell continue with the current nonsense there may be loads of empty seats, even though they have been sold.
It’s all because of the anti-white atmosphere around the NFL now. There is a lot more to this than the kneeling in the anthems. There is the constant denigrating of white players by the announcers and media — white players are always “unathletic” and seen as second rate place holders until a “real athlete” can be found for the position. The fact that several positions have a near blacks only policy where whites are let go from rosters even when they perform well at certain positions. It’s the constant commercials which show white male dads as fools. It’s the hatred of the best and whitest team in the League from the entire media.
I know many people IRL who have tuned the NFL out over this stuff since 2015.
By the end of this season, it’s going to be clear this is not a blip.

Free Agency, players now jump from team to team like a Kardashian. Hard to develop team loyalty when you don't know the players.
NFL is so engineered now for TV that a stadium game is actually quite dull. Lots of just standing around while the commercials are run.
Over officialed: When announcers chirp in with "And there are no flags!" when there is a big play, you're over officialed. And then everything halts while the officials haggle over what happened.
It's a small price to pay if white people can wake up to how horrible they are. The NFL owners should take pride in helping that happen.

The NY Giants used to have a waiting list for season tickets that had tens of thousands of names on it when they played at Giants Stadium. People would put their names on it in the hopes that their grandchildren might someday become season ticket holders. The waiting list disappeared completely when they moved into the new MetLife Stadium, with many life-long season ticket holders refusing to pay $5,000 to $20,000 for a PSL at the new stadium. The Giants' PSL exchange was even showing an average PSL selling for a loss of about $200 in 2012 -- after they had won the Super Bowl.

I once learned that theater tickets at the turn of the 20th century were $2.50, but since the average worker's wage was 5 cents/hour, that was a whole week's wages. $300 for a concert ticket would require about $500 for a worker before deductions today, meaning someone making $12.50/hr full time would spend a week's wages on the ticket. Whether Lindsey Stirling is worth a week's wages for a performance is of course a personal choice.
