A university president in Tennessee apologized Friday for hosting black students in his home, which displayed a cotton decoration.
Randy Lowry, president of Lipscomb University, apologized for showing centerpieces bearing cotton stalks while hosting black students at his home in an email sent to the school Friday and posted on Facebook.
The content of the centerpieces was offensive, and I could have handled the situation with more sensitivity, said Lowry. I sincerely apologize for the discomfort, anger or disappointment we caused and solicit your forgiveness.
The president reported that multiple students confided in him about the cotton decoration displayed during a Thursday dinner he hosted at his home for black students to share their experiences at Lipscomb with him.
I have heard from a number of students who would like to spend more time together engaging in conversation, said Lowry. I am most pleased to do so either in small groups or individually.
Other schools have taken action to try to redress the grievances of black students. The University of Missouri hosted segregated microaggression therapy sessions in August. (RELATED: Mizzou Offers Microaggressions Therapy For Black Students Surviving At White Institution)
The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to Lowry and Lipscomb for comment, but received none in time for press.

Hey! He HOSTED them in his HOME - doesn't that count for something?? What ingrates!
That’s pink cotton candy. Not racist, but homophiliast.....
I don’t go around seeking to “offend” anyone, but when snowflakes choose to take offense at even such minutia then it has become impossible to live in a civil society. Instead of “omg the sight of a bit of cotton is offensive to ME” the appropriate response is to understand that cotton is NOT offensive to at least 95% of the world (and I have real trouble believing that even many blacks truly find anything offensive in glimpsing a bit of cotton).

There is no end to this insanity. Brings back the era of Stalin and Mao’s Red Guards.
These self-entitled “students” don’t have chains but they certainly deserve them. So does this idiot “University President”. Throw him right in there with the rest of the deserving creeps and make them ALL pick cotton for their dinner.
Of course; this behavior (and encouraging it) ensures that the scenes on commercials (of blacks and whites interacting socially) will become scarce indeed. I honestly doubt most young blacks - or whites - know what a cotton plant looks like.
“Yassur, yassur, Massa Cylinder, us all darkies show nuff ‘preciate dat dere brake fluid you be gibbin’ us!”
Little Black Brembo
The thing is, it is 110% “lose-lose” when trying to pander to the politically correct Leftards. If you try to do anything that shows you are considering your audience (e.g., serving “soul food” which is another thing this college president is being criticized for), then you will be attacked for that kind of pandering. But if you were to serve, say, French or Italian cuisine, then you can be attacked for NOT taking account of “African-American culture.” If you served bar-b-q then you could be accused of “stereotyping” but then if you served Thai food instead you would be accused of cultural insensitivity again.
It is a NO WIN situation through and through. That is just how Chairman Mao’s SJWs want it to be. THEY get to define “sensitivity” in a continually fluid and shifting landscape.
When I was a kid, I was a toe head. I had white hair.
One man who ran a gas station in Saginaw, Missouri started calling me Cotton-top.
It is a sad day for me, when I realize what a racist he was.

Get a freakin life people. HtG folks, not everything in life is about you.
You don’t own the rights to cotton plants. Cotton plants are not intrinsically racist.
I am sorry that slavery has been a part of human history as far back as records exist, and that around 4% of them in the modern age came to the United States, but you know what, I’m getting damned tired of having to say this all the time.
LMAO!!! And from a fellow Masshole! Nice one!
And slavery continues to this day in certain cultures. They are ungrateful snots who don’t know what real oppression is.
I guess I can’t use the word “denigrate.”
LOL
I almost believe you believe that.
As the saying goes - “we should have picked our own damn cotton! “
