Lerner cleared of tea party targeting charges

The Trump Justice Department has once again cleared former IRS senior executive Lois G. Lerner of criminal liability stemming from the tea party targeting.

In a letter to top Republicans, Assistant Attorney General Stephen E. Boyd said they re-reviewed the case and concluded there isn’t enough evidence to charge Ms. Lerner, who was at the center of the targeting. Mr. Boyd said the new review included lawyers who only recently joined the department and weren’t part of the Obama administration’s earlier decision.

“After this process, the Department determined that reopening the investigation would not be appropriate based on the available evidence,” Mr. Boyd said.

He said if new information comes to light, the decision could be revisited.

Republicans on Capitol Hill called the decision “terrible.”

But now Mueller is there as the point man for the democrats and NeverTrumpers, and he wants to use Koskinen to hang the President on some twisted tax charge.

So it is entirely reasonable that if there is a witness to Koskinen’s dirty deeds, that witness can negotiate a drop of any pending charges in exchange for testimony.

Koskinen must be neutralized if not hung out to dry.

Understand that Trump is a student of history and of wars. His heroes, among many, are Generals Patton and MacArthur. Both Generals waged asynchronous warfare. MacArthur’s approaches were more often than not, counterintuitive.

I can see Donald Trump is counterintuitive in his tactics and strategy. He’s playing to win, not to garner emotional points with supporters.

Bannon said Trump made a big mistake by not firing all the holdovers from the Obama Administration. I tended to agree but after some thinking, Trump’s approach may be best, to show an olive branch and let enemies attack after first being offered peace. Trump never attacks first.

When I heard the news of Lerner being cleared, I was as mad if not madder than any poster on FR. But that’s an emotional reaction. Need to use brains, not emotions.

But this strategy of letting Lerner off the hook won't work. There will be another former Obama official, a Deep State traitor, or some other miscreant to take Koskinen's place. Mueller probably has a list of cooperating Obama IRS officials a mile long. Taking out Koskinen will not do one damn thing to stop Mueller's witch hunt. You can't play wack-a-mole on this scale and expect to win. The Deep State is deep and evil.
