Traditionally Free Republic has tried to keep truly important topics to one or two threads.
I am creating a prayer and comment thread to parallel the Irma threads and keep down the childlike quips that are slowing down the other threads.
Have a religious comment? Have a relative in need of prayer? Please post it here.
The other threads are slow enough with all the graphics, which becomes more important as people try to evacuate, moving to cell and tablet communication.
So please play nice and move discussions here.
Prayers from South Alabama for His hand to stretch forth and calm the wind, and water, and if He says no to that, then prayers for Mercy.
Agreed. I have family and friends scattered throughout the state and I grew up in South Florida. Left in 1998 but still miss it. Praying for everyone in the state.
Heavenly Father, Please hear our cries for mercy in this time of national disaster. You are in the midst of our storms, trials and troubles. Please provide hope, assurance and protection to the millions who are in harms way by hurricanes, wind, fire, earthquakes, flooding. May Americans heaed the cries for help in providing disaster relief. Un Jesus Name, Amen
Heavenly Father, we lift up those on the east coast. We ask for their protection and we especially ask for their deliverance. We ask that they wake to know that You are a God of love and mercy. May they join us as we praise You.
Father God, we especially lift up the policemen, first responders and those who serve. May they be blessed and know the protection of Your Covering.
we ask these things in Jesus’ name
Special prayers for those like your son, who are on the road. Father God, shelter them in Your Wings, give them a double portion of wisdom and peace.
Indeed, prayers.
I don’t post much these days on FR, but I am praying that all our folks in Florida and Georgia will be safe. Also praying for a miracle: that this ugly storm will lose a lot of its power in the next 24 - 36 hours.
Amen!!
Psalm 89
A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite.
1 I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord,* for ever;
with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations.
2 I declare that your steadfast love is established for ever;
your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.
3 You said, I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
I have sworn to my servant David:
4 I will establish your descendants for ever,
and build your throne for all generations.
Selah
5 Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord,
your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones.
6 For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord?
Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord,
7 a God feared in the council of the holy ones,
great and awesome* above all that are around him?
8 O Lord God of hosts,
who is as mighty as you, O Lord?
Your faithfulness surrounds you.
9 You rule the raging of the sea;
when its waves rise, you still them.
10 You crushed Rahab like a carcass;
you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.
11 The heavens are yours, the earth also is yours;
the world and all that is in ityou have founded them.
12 The north and the south*you created them;
Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name.
13 You have a mighty arm;
strong is your hand, high your right hand.
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
15 Happy are the people who know the festal shout,
who walk, O Lord, in the light of your countenance;
16 they exult in your name all day long,
and extol* your righteousness.
17 For you are the glory of their strength;
by your favour our horn is exalted.
18 For our shield belongs to the Lord,
our king to the Holy One of Israel.
I really need this thread right now. Our son, DIL and 2 grandkids are in Clearwater. The hospital nearby where DIL works as a nurse is allowing family members to shelter there. Are my husband and I still concerned? You bet. Been praying all day for them and all in harm’s way. Gonna be a sleepless night here in AZ.
(((((Sending Prayers)))))
Prayers for the folks in the path of Irma.
Prayers up and continuing.
I am with you a miracle would be good here! Prayers UP!
Dear Texas,
Pretty sure we are safe,
Shuttered real well.
Problem is losing electricity.
Since we are somewhat rural the power company gets things up and running in the more populated areas first.
One took 14 days
Another 10 to get power restored.
Also it is thoses unable to do much i worry about.
Both my boats are in my hanger.
Many others are worse than us,pray for them.
Irma is a truly big and dangerous storm.
Psalm 107:23-28
23 Some went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters.
24 They saw the works of the LORD, his wonderful deeds in the deep.
25 For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves.
26 They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away.
27 They reeled and staggered like drunkards; they were at their wits’ end.
28 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress.
hopefully they are tucked away in the harbor of Fort Jefferson. Fort has been there a mighty long time.
There are many places you can hide and ride it out in that place.
thank you for this thread! Joining in prayer
Prayers up, especially for the very young, the very old, the infirm - and our animal friends, too.
