There was a thread here on FR about some scientist who claims there was a connection between solar activity and earthquakes, and due to a solar storm, we were supposed to be expecting an Earthquake within a particular range of days, which were coming up in September.
Maybe his theory has merit?

And I remember that Ted Cruz was using the Catching Fire meme to pretend there was a massive grass roots movement putting up “Catching Fire” logos all over in his honor. It was proof that the Cruz surge to overtake Trump was imminent. Yep. Just around the corner. Any day now.

In the 1950s the head of the Hawaii Volcano research center presented data regarding the effect of sunspots on the level of magma in volcanoes there. I have the book somewhere to double check. There was a perceived effect.
Lawrence seems highly overrated to me. Never took to her and then she opened her mouth on politics and she became anathema.

There are two possible "electromagnetic" type effects that physics says "must happen" which interest me.
The first is the already-alluded-to coupling of solar storm EMF with the earth's magnetic field and subsequent effect on earth's internal electric currents.
The second is that the earth itself is "a conductor moving in a magnetic field" (the sun's field). If the sun's field strengthens or weakens, the magnitude of the earth's internal currents must increase or decrease.
It seems to me that the first effect is most likely to trigger earthquakes...probably with "some" time delay. The second effect is a direct and non-photonic mechanism possibly affecting climatic cycles ("global warming").
The simplest of physics says that both of these effects "must" exist, yet I can find almost no information on either of these, even as "thought experiments", and I have been looking for years.
