Trump to Congress: Legalize DACA! (or I Will Revisit)
Breitbart.com ^ | 5 Sep 2017 | Adam Shaw

President Trump called on Congress to “legalize” DACA late Tuesday, just hours after his administration announced the repeal of the amnesty for children brought to the country illegally — promising that he will “revisit this issue” if Congress does not turn DACA into legislation.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the repeal of the Obama era executive order — known as the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — both on constitutional grounds and also on principle.

“The effect of this unilateral executive amnesty, among other things, contributed to a surge of unaccompanied minors on the southern border that yielded terrible humanitarian consequences,” Sessions said. “It also denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same jobs to go to illegal aliens.”

The move saw significant opposition from Democrats and voices in the media, while even some Republicans who formerly opposed DACA called for Congress to act to resolve the issue with legislation.

The rollback includes a six-month delay so as to allow Congress to act if it so chose. The White House had expressed hope that the issue could be included as part of a broader immigration legislation package, with Trump tweeting that he hoped to work with Democrats and Republicans for a reform “that puts hardworking citizens of our country 1st.”

But by late Tuesday, Trump appeared to have turned into a paper tiger on the key campaign promise to get rid of DACA, saying he would “revisit this issue” if Congress did not “legalize DACA.”

Good :)

http://www.headlineoftheday.com/2017/08/31/poll-should-obamas-deferred-action-for-childhood-arrivals-program-daca-be-ended/

According to this poll 55% of We the People feel DACA should be ended. Only 37% think we should keep it. Boots on the ground in my necks of the woods indicates to me that this is representative of reality here. Maybe not where you live. But if you are relying on big media / social media polling for taking the pulse of We the People, the margin of error on your indicators is "huuuuggge" given recent elections.

The dems can find enough Rinos to pass this. Juan McCain has a brain tumor and just won reelection for another 5 1/2 years. Think he and Linda graham and Susan Collins won’t vote for this? Flake might not, but just like healthcare they’ll work out a little deal and enough of them will buckle to Schumer to get it through. The only incentive for the dems not to pass it is if they decide the American people want it and they can hang the conservatives with it.

What does Trump do then if amnesty passes congress?

Hey Van, are you saying that only those who supported Trump from the inception of his campaign are his base? That’s stupid. Cruz supported the wall since AT LEAST 2013! But Trump is President, and I want him to keep his promises to US patriots who voted for him.

“revisit” does not = “revive” or “legalize” (only Congress can do that).

And you should be commendd for not understanding what “legalize DACA” or revisit means. You asked for a source, I gave to you right from the horse’s mouth. and you mocked me for responding to you?!

Agreed. It's political suicide for Congress to take on immigration for "feel good" reasons when they've left tax reform and health care reform to rot away our pocket books, purses, and patience. Anyone in Congress who picks this hill to die on is a likely candidate for losing their next primary election.

HA!

That’s about all we can say at this point. His team sure doesn’t know what he meant. There is no legal basis for him to do anything since SCOTUS has ruled and Sessions has said the law is unconstitutional

So we wait.

Yea Bye. Truth is not a personal attack. Saying that Trump was going against his promise all because he used the word revisit is very short sighted in light of his placing the hot potato right in the lap of a Congress that would not touch this even as illegal as it was is spot on. Did it ever dawn on you that he knows Congress will not do anything? Does it not dawn on you that he is also pulling the liberal masks off the RINOs even more? Did it ever dawn on you that this is more about the mid-terms in ousting as many deep state ruling class politicians with the light of TRUTH?

Hello! McFly!

The people that showed up at the end are flaky and always ready to act on their butthurt over Cruz losing.

They aren’t his base, they just went with the winner, and thus think they know why we went with him.

The GOPe desperately wants to pass DACA into law, but if they do something for the benefit of 800,000 illegal aliens after failing to fix ObamaCare -- which affects tens of millions of American citizens -- they are literally going to be taking their lives into their hands.

I wish others could grasp this. We get a huge win yesterday with the rescinding of DACA and within literally a few hours folks have got the axes and pitch forks out because of an off the cuff tweet. Congress is on the hot seat now. Fund the Wall. Pass tax cuts. Kill Obamacare.

WH Won’t Say If Trump Would Extend DACA If Congress Can’t Pass A Solution
“If Congress doesn’t get it done by the March 5th deadline, considering the President’s personal feelings about these DACA recipients, would he consider giving them additional time to get a solution passed?” a reporter asked Sanders.

“and you mocked me for responding to you?!”

Naw. I complimented you for your efforts. Anything you derive from that unambiguous statement is on you.

President Trump’s tweet is not evidence of anything more. It’s another shiny thing for people to chase & lose their minds over.

I’m enjoying the show. :)

POTUS has been pretty clear on that:

“Make no mistake, we are going to put the interest of AMERICAN CITIZENS FIRST!

The forgotten men & women will no longer be forgotten.”

Schumer is in charge here. His votes are what are needed to pass.....whatever the hell passes.

I suspect everyone who qualifies currently will be amnestied and there will be a future end date so everyone who didn’t sign up, does. (Dems know that there is not much juice left to squeeze here, but they need another win).

Trump will get some kind of half-assed, never-never land funding that will allow him to have 60 miles of a wall replacing current fencing built.

I don’t think anyone here really understands what is about to happen.

There is a great line in one of the Douglas Adams books that explains why one planet could win a war against the entire universe.

“They care.”
“We don’t.”

The Dems care about this issue, and everyone nuance of it. Trump cares about fulfilling his wall promise. He has to have something built by 2020. Schumer and Company know what he truly cares about and what he doesn’t, and that gives them a massive advantage here.

Mary‏ @TeaPartyforUSA More How can DOJ extend illegal DACA for 6 months? If it is extended for 1 yr, 2 yr, 3 yr, would extension be called illegal? @TuckerCarlson

https://hotair.com/archives/2017/09/05/poll-heavy-majority-supports-letting-dreamers-stay-become-legal-residents-7615/

And this story from a right-wing site shows that 75 percent would support for Amnesty for DACA.

You can square the circle here. People don’t like DACA, but sympathize with those covered by it. So, kill DACA, amnesty everyone, and Congress gets out of this with their scalps.

That’s what’s coming. A million new citizens and no more DACA.
