While thoughts and prayers are with our Texas FRiends and neighbors, we are at the peak of the Atlantic Tropical Storm season. Hurricane Irma continues its trek from Cape Verde across the pond and toward the Hebert Box (see below). People with interests in the Southeastern U.S. and Gulf of Mexico should be alert to the forecast path updates for this powerful storm. It is important to note that the average NHC track errors are about 175 and 225 statute miles at days 4 and 5, respectively.
Hurricane Irma originally had a small wind field. In the past 24 hours, however, the wind field has expanded with hurriance force winds up to 40 miles from the center, and tropical storm force winds up to 140 miles from the storm center.
FL Governor Rick Scott reminds Floridians: Families should take time today to make sure you have a disaster plan and fully-stocked Disaster Supply Kit. Florida residents from West Palm Beach to Tampa Bay are heeding the alert. Store shelves are emptying of bottled water.

And replacement construction in FEMA flood plains will be to the latest building codes, likely well north of $170 per sq. ft.

Same here. It isn’t just a despicable name. The guy who found WU really WAS/IS a far left Antifa-type radical.

Glad they’re considering helping the animals. But shouldn’t they be crated and taken north? If they’re in Key West, good chance they’ll all be under water.
To: MayflowerMadam
Gov. Scity just told everyone in the Keys to get out. Can’t get any more clear than that. WTH the people in charge at Hemingway House are thinking, I have no idea. If I lived down there, I’d engage in some catnapping before bugging out.

Hmmm thats unusual, because usually meteorologists and local news like to focus on the scare tactic. They like to keep people watching and they dont get viewers by saying all this is not going to be a big deal just a little wind. Meteorologists are not into scare tactics. They are busy focusing on trying to forecast the path of this monster.
This is a powerful and deadly storm and if people don't leave or prep, they will die in it.
170+ MPH winds is not just a little wind.

I would be very surprised if any motel or hotel turns away someone with a pet during a major evacuation.

Same here. Factions of the WU were responsible for the Brinks shootings at the Nanuet Mall, which was one of our hangouts at the time. My dear Mom was planning on shopping there the day of the shooting. To this day, every Clarkstown, NY PO,as well as all the FBI agents and NYPD detectives involved in that case have good reason to believe Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, good friends of 0 and Mooch had some involvement. So,in a way, yeah it's personal.

Florida spiny lobsters. All you get is a tail. Up north? Claws, too. Yeah, but that "tail" is the sweetest meat you'll ever eat! Especially if you can get it fresh, right out of the sea. No Maine lobster I have ever tried was better. Good friends of ours always brought back a bunch over "sportsmen holiday" that opens the season to regular people before the commercial traps are put down.

Looks like Miami FL, Jacksonville FL, Beaufort SC, Hilton Head Island SC, Charleston SC, Savannah GA, and then Charlotte NC have good reason to worry. We moved back to Tampa from Charlotte two years ago. I'm starting to experience some "survivor's guilt".
