While thoughts and prayers are with our Texas FRiends and neighbors, we are at the peak of the Atlantic Tropical Storm season. Hurricane Irma continues its trek from Cape Verde across the pond and toward the Hebert Box (see below). People with interests in the Southeastern U.S. and Gulf of Mexico should be alert to the forecast path updates for this powerful storm. It is important to note that the average NHC track errors are about 175 and 225 statute miles at days 4 and 5, respectively.
Hurricane Irma originally had a small wind field. In the past 24 hours, however, the wind field has expanded with hurriance force winds up to 40 miles from the center, and tropical storm force winds up to 140 miles from the storm center.
FL Governor Rick Scott reminds Floridians: Families should take time today to make sure you have a disaster plan and fully-stocked Disaster Supply Kit. Florida residents from West Palm Beach to Tampa Bay are heeding the alert. Store shelves are emptying of bottled water.

Daisy Chain time. These people are nuts! Get to shelter.
Not watching FoxNews any more--I'm watching OAN. Much better, much more conservative, no regressives.
“if South Beach suffers very heavy damage the economic hit to the Miami area could last for a decade or more as the Miami Beach area is slowly rebuilt—if at all.”
Welp, considering there will be onshore winds followed by offshore winds there shouldn’t be much erosion. Nothing dredging operations this fall can’t remedy.
fake,,thats from India not recently
it was going around earlier claiming it was from ST Martin or something

oh okay.
Will do.
“..been a long time with out one here in Florida..”
I think Charley was the last one.
I have a brother in Naples. He’s far enough inland to avoid the storm surge but the wind, possible tornadoes and localized flooding are concerning.
But it doesn’t look as bad for him as it did yesterday when Irma was looking to go thru the Florida Strait.

I was up in northern Minnesota at a cabin last month. They had satellite TV. So much for roughing it.
But they had OAN there. I watched it as much as I could. I wish my cable network would get it. I thought it was a great network.
That order is probably coming late Wednesday or early Thursday, Mayor Carlos Gimenez told reporters Tuesday.
I understand that Miami has some of the worst criminals on earth in it. If Miami is badly damaged then they will permanently scatter out to other places and bring a lot of serious crime and liberal polices with them to other nice places in America.
Just like New Orleans did to Texas.
Wow, that is some wind. I hope all of those passengers got to shelter okay.
140+ mph for a few hours will definitely get the coconuts and the monkeys out of the palm trees , this one could make Andrew look like a rain shower and it was CAT5, had a barometric of 926 mb and was rated a SuperHurricane..
Sounds like water temps are up, I’ve been in good blows before but a baby like this will sheer off a lot of landscaping and stuff including roofs, greenery etc. what a mess..
That's so aggravating. Thanks for telling us.
Where did all of the survivors find shelter I if 90% of the housing stock has been destroyed?
Heading for high ground—just like the alligators, snakes and fire ant colonies. It's nature's way.
Doing that, it will feed itself off the Gulf Stream. Very warm water.
I am still trying to figure out what housing stock is.
