I think it’s more Columbus’ connection to Christianity which makes him “unworthy” in the eyes of the left.

The city council must have no idea how silly they look.

Columbus Day is a federal holiday. A lowly city council doesn’t have any power to change that.

If I’m not mistaken, Columbus Day is a federal holiday. So LA does not have the authority to actually change the name.

The liberals can go around calling Christmas by the name Festivus, but it doesn’t change the name of the actual federal holiday. Same concept here. They can call it something else in the city limits of LA but they don’t have jurisdiction to change it for the country.

My opinion as a Choctaw whose folk suffered the first Trail of Tears and who were generally cheated by the First Democrat President, is that this is simply STUPID.

History is what it is. Columbus had an immeasurable effect upon world civilization. I don’t begrudge him his Day. I can celebrate it or not in my own fashion.

Which indigenous people? A lot of them enslaved their neighbors or engaged in human sacrifice. We wouldn’t want to celebrate them, would we?

Isn’t this Nativist racism? Isn’t America open to all migrants, whether they were here originally or came from afar? Why not celebrate the new migrants rather than blindly holding on to the continents indigenous past? They need to have open minds.

Some peoples’ ancestors may have gotten here earlier than others, but no human in the western hemisphere is indigenous.

Give me a break
Anyone descended from a mixture of Aztecs and conquistadors has no room to complain about slavery or brutality

Apparently slavery is okay as long as the indigenous people are the slavers.

How many calendars are there in Los Angeles? They are all printed wrong.

I don’t think a single member of the LA City Council can pass a 51-50 test.

Recently, Columbus has been put at the same level as the KKK by left tards. It’s astounding.
