BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
One year after the Cajun Navy fleet deployed to pluck stranded families from the flood waters that overwhelmed southeast Louisiana, the volunteer rescuers have mobilized again to help in the Houston area after heavy flooding from Tropical Storm Harvey.
A second wave of volunteers with the group gathered in Baton Rouge on Monday to head to the Houston area to provide additional support.

After Katrinaand Rita, Mr. Mercat and I drove down to SW Louisiana pulling an old camping trailer full of bottled water and supplies. We left it all there after meeting up, as arranged, with some of these guys. They took us on the full tour past the barricades. We saw drowned alligators and cows. I’ll never forget the smell.
Hey! that's one of President Trump's base you are referring to...good people! The face of the America we all love and care about!

Everybody makes fun of a redneck until their car breaks down...or the crick rises.
Neighbor helping neighbor in the South ... “Save your Confederate money, boys; the South shall rise again!” Thank you to our neighbors from the East.
Why is that weird? Southern redneck and coonass culture is like that.
I love my fellow Americans. Anything happens anywhere and there they are with their big hearts and willing hands.
The Cajun Navy is primarily made up by a certain demographic: Southern white males. The media tell us that these are the most hateful, racist, bigoted people in the world.
Curiously, if you see any footage of the Cajun Navy in action, you will notice a very interesting thing. The people that, more often than not, they end up saving, are usually from those demographics they are supposed to hate so badly.
They go out there on their own initiative and risk their own health and well-being to help people, regardless of their skin color, ethnicity, religion, gender or whatever.
He was being facetious.
Every hurricane prone, excessive flooding, state guard should have its own fleet of these in it’s Cain Navy and state guard.
And at their own expense too. Thanks Bodreaux.
They do it better organizing it and running it themselves. The coordinate with local law enforcement and state authorities as best they can, but they are faster and more efficient doing it themselves without 10 layers of bureaucracy screwing it up.
Already saved a life:
